I can't match your quality, so let's go for a good story and rarity.
And something from the pre-1834 era.
And I have always admired "The Classics."
Gorgeous quarter eagles.
Of the 5 posted by Eldorado my favorite is the 1899.
Those are gorgeous examples!
Bill, if that 1848 Cal is yours.....You just stole the show my friend.....Holy Cow! Beautiful and EXCEEDINGLY rare.
Not the best looking proof in the world but a proof nonetheless.
The 1899 is a Playboy Playmate amongst Band Camp girls...It's not really a fair contest.
Here is the highest grade piece I have. NGC graded it MS-67. It's a bear to photograph, at least for me.
That's an official luster bomb. Great color. More and more, I love the little quarter eagles...They are just great coins, particularly when they look like that. Thanks Bill.
I just love these 21/2 $ gold coins.

Love that 1877- and the photography is spectacular!
This one saw a lot of use:
Same year my mom was born...son, is that you?
@Eldorado9
I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed.
Beautiful!
I own only three, for my Type Sets, but each has a plus grade, and each has a CAC sticker:

All five of these type coins are among the hardest get when you looking to complete the early, pre-1834 gold type set. The early quarter eagles are where "the rubber meets the road." The most common type coin in this group is the 1804.
Wouldn't Mr Burns be drooling more for the Double Eagles? Especially that 1933 one?

Absolutely beautiful Bill....The 1825 in particular w it's PL fields has me in awe. Talk about rare QE's! The early gold.....It's an area of US numismatics that I've never seriously explored.
Wow! Just speechless- love them!
Those are amazing coins and pieces of history @BillJones.

Actually, just about every 1825 quarter eagle has P-L fields, which makes it harder to buy them. Every mark is magnified because of that. The mintages were low for all of these coins from the 1820s, and the dies didn't get used enough to wear off the P-L surfaces.
65+DCAM CAC
For something different……..both are quarter eagle KETTLE tokens. First one is gold gilt. Second one is silver gilt.
There is one one silver graded in PCGS and one graded in NGC (mine)

I love this proof! It's pretty enough for me.
I think the condition is in a sweet spot. Most proofs under PRF-60 have too many abrasions, but in 61 or 62 they can be very attractive coins and affordable. (Affordable, if I give up several other coins)
Hope to have one like this some day!
Wow maybe 20 known and gorgeous! Drum roll please!
