Here are a couple gold dollars.
I believe @CharlotteDude may have several examples.
I love branch mint gold. I only have one Charlotte coin... so far.
Just picked up this one.
Not being a gold coin collector, why are these Charlotte gold coins often plugged? And when certified, they seem to always have "details". Are they cleaned or manipulated that much?
I just won this from JBR set last week...

I think it's because a lot more of them are sent into grading regardless of condition because of how valuable they are. Rare high value coins like Charlotte minted gold sell better in a holder regardless of condition even if it has been damaged. It would also be worth it for peace of mind to the buyer that the coin is genuine. Common damaged gold coins that sell for melt or close to it won't benefit from being holdered which is why you don't see as many of them in a holder opposed to rarer key dates.

since this is a thread for C mint collectors, i'll ask here, not to derail the thread though.
i watched a video about chumlee possibly getting a life sentence. figured i'd click the youtube video to see what it was about, not believing it til i see it kinda thing though. it was clickbait and i've blocked the channel (thanks blocktube) but not RIGHT before seeing the pawn stars guys buy a gold "collection" that ended up being from someone that was reported to have stolen the coins.
the video was a talk-over kinda thing but the pawn stars footage was playing in the background with at least one C mint coin being obviously visible.
the person in the video doing the talking stated the pawn stars guys paid only a fraction of what they were worth and when the police came looking for the coins, the staff stated they melted the coins for their PM value!
so i do know there is an episode for this but can't confirm the details w/o finding it and then somehow watching it and now i'm curious if someone versed in coins would be dumb enough to melt C mint gold.

I haven't located an open wreath yet.
Buy one when you get the chance. Problem free Charlotte and Dahlonega gold coins are difficult to find. You can find a lot of problem coins on eBay. In June I bought both a C mint and a D mint (Dahlonega not Denver) gold coin from David Lawrence rare coins. They were always rare and always will be. these gold coins are not coming down in price anytime soon. Popular and easy liquidable. Get a nice problem free, straight grade coin in a PCGS or NGC holder. Mine are not for sale.
If a modern coin has a mintage of just over a million pieces, some collectors think that it is something special. The entire mintage from the Charlotte and Dahlonega Mints was just over a million for each facility from 1838 until 1861. Add to that the fact that collectors didn’t pay attention to mint marks until the 1890s, and you have the perfect situation for a string of scarce to rare coins.
If they had moved that hole to the right on the reverse a centimeter or so, we would have out on that Charlotte gold dollar.
I do not have any Charlotte gold coins. Looked for a holed one at melt for a while, did not find any.... Thanks for all the great pictures above.... Cheers, RickO
This was my second Charlotte Mint coin, an 1838-C quarter eagle. My first one was a low grade, VF-20, 1843-C $5 gold, which I sold. I bought this one raw in the late 1980s. It is now in a PCGS AU-55 holder.
And here is an 1850-C Gold Dollar.
Here are a few for your viewing pleasure.....
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
I am more of a Dahlonega collector than Charlotte, but one thing about the "C mint", the coins are harder to find in the higher grades. Charlotte also never got the hang of how to strike the larger 15 mm gold dollars. I've seen pictures of nice ones, but have never seen a great one in person.
This is actually a bit better than average with respect to strike.
Prices have gone through the roof... not sure how many more I will ever own. Glad I bought it when I did!
Of course, I may have a few more kicking around here and there...
Well, have you seen enough?
One more for the night. The purists won't like this one because it's been dipped. It was made just before the big fire that destroyed the Charlotte Mint. The fist mint had two stories above the basement. The second one had one story.
No, I need to see more, much more.

I don’t have a truview of the 42-C, but here are a few more…
I guess I'm not a purist. Love checking out your posts, keep it up!
