Finally! A long hunted tough variety, captured. Another variety find!
Hi guys,
Yes, I can't believe It found ME?
lol. I been hunting for this toughie for quite some time.
It's the misunderstood variety with the strange title.
The 1988 "Wide AM".
Yep. It really shouldn't be called this. All the 88's are Wide AM's! However, the main vocal point is the "FG" designer's initials on the reverse. To the viewers right of the building.
It's actually the initials of the 1989 cent.
Anyway, I hunted it down. Unfortunately, the condition is not too good. Even though it has no real problems. Just some carbon spots. The strike is
FANTASTIC! And a Red, to boot.
Here it is guys, so, so happy, It finally came my way!
Thank You, guys

Cool,I just looked at mine,
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I sense a small surge of —I found a 1988 wide AM— posts. We oughta rename it here and now by consensus, and make it stick.
That one is much cleaner than the two I found. Good eye and loupe work.
Ye, that 'G' is completely different in both examples.
So what you are saying is that I need to look at the several thousand pennies I already looked at again? Right?

Interesting.... I was not aware of this one. Will put it on my list of things to look for on cents. Cheers, RickO
The FG is a bit lower in the 1989 example, as well.
Been looking for one. Least someone found a nice transitional error. Nice!
I too was not aware of this variety.
Thanks for showing it and once again, outstanding pictures.

Kennedys are my quest...
Congrats! Nice job.
So the "official" name of your coin is "1988-P Reverse of 1989"?
I didn't know about this one either.

No, the official name is

"Wide AM".
In which, is goofy because all '88's are
Wide AM's.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. The Denver 1988, is more valuable.

Mine is the Philadelphia one.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

Were these issued in mint sets as well, or just released to circulation? Congrats on the find.
Thanks,

I'm sure you can find these in mint sets, as well?
Those are the real winners! They're most likely to be in tip top condition?
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Mine is 63RB but the real trick is finding MS66. This, the plate coin in Trueview looks like bank roll toning and spots but it could be mint pack.

Now, that I think about it probably enders from a plastic wrap bank roll.
Beautiful Lincoln, dude!

Regardless of the variety.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!

"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Nice cherrypick, and, like others was not aware of this variety!
With the main visual point showing the "FG" designer's initials.
Yes it does show, wide.
Kodoes bubba, as I find the variety very demanding to pin down the FG styles.
Having studied Lincoln cent varieties for many years and finding several of these, I've never heard this called a Wide AM. A Google search shows you are right, but I haven't a clue when or why they started calling them that. They were always referred to as transitional reverses or RDV-6's (reverse design variety.) Always focused on the flared G of the designer's initials- Frank Gasparro.
Wide AM is for the years 1998-2000.
And where is PCGS getting the value of $200?!?
Congrats on the find, Joey. A keeper by any name

... And where is PCGS getting the value of $200?!?
Thanks,
The $200, is what our host has valued for the other 88 I posted with the TrueView.
Comparing my coin's condition to the ms 63's condition. Their ms 63 has a value of $200.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Yeah guys,
Another cool variety from the same cent bank box where I found the 1988 W AM.
Not as valuable but very obvious doubling.
2006p DDO.
You don't want to see the reverse, it's bad!
Lol
I Just want to teach you guys about this dd that's out there.
Notice the stretching of the numbers/Letters.
Quite Obvious, isn't it?
A very cool DD.
Like I said, found this dd in the same bank box I picked up from Indiana, on my vacation.
Hope to post some more from this box?
Thanks guys

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I believe the price guide is 275 on the 88.
My recent find, the 2006 ddo.

It has two varieties!
The FS- 101 & FS- 102.
Mine is the better one, the FS- 102!
lol. Plus, just noticed, it does have a nice premium, as well.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
