    Having grown up spending most of my time out in nature in Missouri, I never saw bald eagles, because as the article says they were endangered here.
    Saw my first one in the wild around 2003-04. Then a few years later I had a job that involved driving around out in the country a lot, often near a small river. And there I had many close encounters with them.

    I've been fascinated/semi-obsessed ever since. A friend of mine is also enamored by them, and we exchange information on our sightings and nests we know of. I get to see them often now because they've made such a huge comeback here and because I know where to look. And it never gets old. I love them! :)
