CAC is closed this week for "vacation". Are you saying that they are there at the ANA this week? ...or just by coincidence? 🤔

coinosaurus might be talking about njcoincrank. He usually attends the WFOM.

Correct, CAC was not set up here. I was talking with one of the guys who is associated with CAC.

My hack last year was parking at the Rivers Casino Des Plaines and either taking a $7-9 uber, or walking the mile or so.

Actually, Mark, I've always thought that nobody wants us was the primary limitation. I might be persuaded to say "no major venue" wants us. There are certainly some second-tier places where the NMS is welcome.

That limitation was the most surprising to me, of the ones I heard in a committee meeting I attended, many years ago.

I would not feel safe walking or taking the subway in NYC, at least the way things are now, which started a few years ago. I hope things change for the better, but I’m not optimistic.

As far as NYC goes, there is probably no chance.

I attended the last time it was there.

I understand why they feel this way:

The costs of the venue and hotel rooms are much higher than anywhere else.
Airfare is usually higher and the airports are farther away from the city than, say Chicago.
And sales tax is charged on coin sales.

Personally, I really enjoyed Boston- loved going there, 5 hour drive for me, but the city is beautiful. And I found a room that was reasonable.

As for Philly, the streets were3 torn up, but I understand they have been repaired [I hope]. The hotel was reasonable, although I had problems with my air conditioning. The site was nice and the food reasonable.

I vote for Boston or Philly-- drivable for me at least.

Sidebar - would the ANA be the POC to recommend future locations? OKC has a couple of large arenas and a halfway decent public trolley transportation system downtown. And is practically in the middle of the CONUS.

Philadelphia has big plans to celebrate the 250th in 2026 and I think having the WFOM here would be a perfect match.

I agree that ANA is a pain in the rear. But the Central States location close by is much more user friendly. Free parking. Shorter walk. I enjoyed the ANA show but do not like the location. The Central America exhibit was fascinating.

A couple of places that have been mentioned have been tried, with mixed (at best) results.

In Philadelphia, there were a lot of complaints about the convention center and some of the ridiculous rules they had. Dealers weren't allowed to put up their own lights or signs and you can imagine how that played out with the independent minded coin crowd.

Boston ANA was conducted in a two room venue that was kind of ridiculous. Dealers that found out they were in the "other" room were not happy.

I didn't go to Denver but I heard it was a terrible show.

I would love for it to be in NYC as I work there but ANA is not big enough for any acceptable venue. Plus the best way around NYC is the subway (might not be optimal for the unfamiliar) and hotels are pricey.

And that doesn't even get into sales tax issues.

Schaumburg might be more convenient for those that drive in, but much less convenient for those that fly.

No location is going to be perfect.

Although I live in NYS, no way do I go to NYC..... There are several reasons, some of which have been mentioned. I have other reasons as well. Cheers, RickO

I think a major show near Dulles Airport (30 miles west of DC) would be great. Lots of airport access. Great road access.
