Many years ago, I bought an 1852 gold dollar in a Regency slab off of eBay and I paid about the same as what it would have cost in a regular slab. It had a special notation on the label "DOUBLE PUNCHED DATE" which required strong magnification to even see. I thought it was neat to have the smallest US coin ever made in the largest slab ever made at the time I bought it. The slab is in perfect condition but didn't include the green drawstring bag. How much does not having the bag hurt the value of this slab? Anyone ever seen just the bag for sale or is it a waste of time looking for one?

    point5zero is the winner! :D

Check with Real American Treasures - I think he has an extra bag for sale.

The Danny Kaye Israel coins go for less than that no? So I am thinking the price paid is for the registry points for the MS 70 as well as the slab.

Haven't seen a Kaye Regency at auction lately - would be interesting to see what it brings.

I picked up a complete Kaye package on eBay for under $500 on eBay in May but that was a total fluke as it was not advertised as a Regency holder. Typical price for a complete set is closer to $1500.

That whole 'can't say something nice' thing.

I doubt it, probably aimed at the "MS70" coin in the expensive plastic.

Thanks @Connecticoin. I'd appreciate a confirmation from @Weiss. I spoke to the seller after the ebay purchase and he was very happy with his proceeds.

Pretty sure the whole point of not saying anything at all is _not saying anything at all. _
Collect what you like. This piece is not for me.

The holder does not outweigh the poor condition of that ASE. No way Jose!

I handled one regency slab when I was a dealer. It contained a high grade but not Unc. 1808 half cent. It was a consignment with a fixed price, and I was amazed when I sold it for over $8 grand.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I do have a few PCGS Regency Green bags and would be happy to sell one to you. They are $400 each and would complete your set. Can you send me pictures of your coin in the holder?

I don't have any pics handy and I would have to dig it out of deep storage. Not sure if a cloth bag is worth that much to me but thanks for offering.

Obviously, the coin is awful. I think the holder is as well despite its vaunted numismatic history. Never understood the attraction. I'd prefer a doily slab instead.

Me too. Regency slabs are too big and clunky, which creates storage issues. The coin is worth NOTHING to me, because of the milk spots and environmental damage.
