Lost one 1796 LC, won another :)

WilliamFWilliamF Posts: 831 ✭✭✭✭✭

I was bidding on an ANACS 1796 LIHERTY draped bust Large cent and lost it @ a little over $350, was kinda bummed about that but then a couple hours later I was the high bidder on this NGC 1796 Liberty Cap Large Cent @ a little over $380, I think this one will fit very nicely with all my other early coppers and I cant wait to get it in hand :)
I will update the post when I do, but for now here are the sellers pics, comments and opinions welcome :)

I wonder if that Verdigone stuff might help the reverse. I’ve never used it, but others on the forum have had some success with it.

The obverse appears pretty nice already. Would be great to have the reverse match it, especially at the price paid.

I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to leave it in the slab or crack it, but if I do crack it out I'll probably try something on the reverse. I have a bottle of Verdicare that I've been testing on some coins recently so this might end up as a test subject as well

    Stunning coins.
I do not have any coin dated in the late 1700's.
I might have to think about acquiring one.

    You should, they're awesome:)
You can find a decent example of these Liberty cap large cents for under $200 most of the time, I got this 1794 for $99 and the '95 for $225 :)
