Hi guys,
In all my CRHunting. I 've found many, many toned coins. In all denominations.
However, today. Literally, 5 minutes ago. While searching through my newly acquired bank box of Quarters. Only after the 10th roll, look at this gem!
Lol. I still can't believe it. Sure, it may be in a 'not-so-good' condition. But the explosive colors make up for that. Many of you guys may disagree about toners in general. Or perhaps disagree even with me, by its appearance. But for me, it's by far my

Best Toner,

I've ever found in the wild!
What is your opinions, guys?
Thanks

Do you think it looks naturally toned?

It looks even more amazing in hand.
I may send it to PCGS?
Even if it receives a detailed grade.
I wouldn't mind it in a holder. Esp with PCGS 's True View pictures.

I think if it goes to PCGS it will come back as either AU Details Damaged or AU Details Artificially Toned.

I suppose this is a "pick your poison" situation.

If you can get somebody to pay a premium for that beat up, common date coin take the money and run. Forget about having it slabbed. Slabbing costs money and takes a lot of time.

To each his own. But I would not spend $50 to have it bodybagged.

I wouldn't spend $1. Besides, that's the kind of color that needs light at a specific angle to really show. Putting the coin in plastic will just make it harder to appreciate, all while adding no value.

It must be a night for 76's. I found this purple penny tonight while cutting up a 76 set. Pretty cool when you spin it.

    I like yours too.

Grading fee will only be approximately
$25 + $5, for the True View. If it details, they will still place it in a holder, not just a body bag.

Nice score, it would be nice to find more like that

All I see is a beat up common coin with environmental damage. Spending $30+ and six months to have it graded borders on nonsense, but I think everyone should be able to do as they please.

I think it looks pretty cool.
I’d probably just keep it in a 2x2 in my binder and look at it ever 6 months to a year when I happen to go through that binder. Something neat to show my daughter when she’s old enough and maybe a grand kid or two someday.

If you prefer to have it in a slab then there’s nothing wrong with that.
That’s one of the great things about this hobby, there are many different ways for one to get enjoyment out of it.

You are having fun @JoeyCoins, that is an important part of a hobby. The cost/value of any part of the hobby is a personal decision. Your hobby, your coin, your money. Have fun and don't lose that enthusiasm. Cheers, RickO

What I wrote wasn't intended to be a knock on your photography. This is a coin that I can tell you would be difficult to photograph well if slabbed because of the light angle required to see the color. Photographing is harder than just seeing the coin, but if you wanted to see the toning well, undoubtedly there'd be a glare on the slab. Raw, the coin is easier to photograph, or to just appreciate in-hand.

Hey, it's your money and your coin. You should enjoy the hobby however you please.

FWIW, the term "bodybag" is often used for a details-holder nowadays. It is a throwback to when PCGS would not holder a coin that couldn't straight-grade. It'd come back in a flip with a sticker that cited the fatal problem.

Joey- Need to ask you a question. I've been watching your threads and posts for a while. First let me say; If I had your money, I would burn mine! 🤣 😂

Okay, now that that's out of the way. This question may have already been asked of you. There's just no way I could ever read all your threads and posts. Question: How are you getting rid of the coins you don't want?

Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )

Well, sure those additional fees but I would also send 5 or 6 more coins with
    The quarter as well.

I have certified circulated toners before. It is what it is. How much more would it be worth in a PCGS XF40 slab? Just think of how many similar coins you could acquire for submission costs of this one. It might even get details with those obverse scratches.
