My 3 Toned 1943-D Mercury Dimes

keyman64keyman64 Posts: 15,519 ✭✭✭✭✭

1943-D Mercury Dimes can be found with nice toning a bit more often than many other dates.
I feel fortunate to have three. This is probably enough, for now...maybe. Whatcha think?
And yes, a couple of these have been posted on the forums before, just not together by one person.

I like the one in the center the best. Hopefully just dark pics and not approaching terminal.

Correct, it’s green in those shadows and not terminal. I had the same concern when buying it.

Dibs on #2! All 3 are very nice but I love crescent toning. Especially when it has transitioned to multicolors!

All very nice! I like the second one slightly more than the first (followed by the third).

Holy Mackerel! These are outstanding! I would happily own any and all of these, but if I did I would also certainly buy more that looked like them. What a great trio!

    Very nice family photo @keyman64! 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻

I'm just sitting here thinking, wouldn't it be great to see or have a 42/1 like one of these?

Beautiful Mercs Keyman! Here's mine, but I'm with everyone else, I really like the second one!

Thanks Wayne! Definitely a very nice example. You need to make it to Winter FUN to meet up with me and Larry.

    Those are beautiful!

Why would a 43-D have nicer toning than a 43 Philadelphia? Is the composition of the silver different?

There are plenty of nicely toned examples for 1943 Philly as well. The higher the mintage figures, the better the chance some were saved and stored. When you get into the mid 1930-s and before, the numbers and fantastic toners go way down. The silver is the same.
