** UPDATE IN FIRST POST 7/5 - Have you ever received coins back that weren't yours from a submission

The TPG will not be named, but last week I received back a submission of six coins I had sent in. When I opened the box there were 8 coins. I immediately notified the TPG.

Has this ever happened to anyone else,,,,,,, or even worse, received a submission back with coins missing?

UPDATE 7/5
I have heard back from the TPG. They have sent to me a postpaid return label and are issuing a $50 credit to me. Woo Hoo!!

I'm sure it has happened before with the volume these TPG's do.

I can ask the owner of the LCS I work at. He sends hundreds of coins in to be graded a month and has 6-7 packages back from grading sitting there for a couple months now that he has to open up and go through.

Yes, I'm sure it's happened in the past. But man, I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that problem!!

Whomever that TPG'er is, they should reward you for your honesty! ONE YEAR FREE SUBMISSIONS!!

Hopefully they are within the sound of my voice. Are you listening ANACS, ICG, PCGS & NGC?!?!?

If you're being rewarded for your honesty then you're being paid for your honesty and that takes away from the spirit of doing the right thing strictly because it is the right thing to do.

So what's your point? The spirit of doing the right thing? Tell me something I don't already know! A lot of people wouldn't do the right thing. You understand my point though, don't you?

@MWallace obviously just saved the TPG'er time, money and a lot of aggravation.

Were six of the 8 coins those you had submitted with two extras, or a totally different 8 coins? If the return were 8 totally different coins, that could be a real problem as you would have toi get the TPG to try to locate your submission or pay for your loss.

I agree with this question, and the premise that

    MORE
    DETAILS!

Come on Mike, spill the beans (but not the TPG)!!

Yes, I did receive a submission of a couple Morgan's not mine, and my coins were missing. I called, PCGS checked and after a few days the other person got mine, we both returned them to PCGS and we each got our coins back in a week or two.

Just do the right things and good things often happen, in spite of others mistakes.

Glad it turned out well and you received your coins.

I once had an Ebay seller send me a complete BU but not slabbed set of un-ordereed ASEs. Got a hold of him, he said he would reimburse shipping, returned coins, paid shipping, and guess what, he did not reimburse shipping. At least I could sleep OK

No good deed goes unpunished. The seller should be ashamed.

I’m not cheap, but I would have insisted on the eBay seller emailing me a prepaid shipping label. Very simple process.

Six of the eight coins are mine. I had sent 6 in so I wasn't out anything. I sent the TPG the Cert# for the other two. They should be able to track down by that who they belonged to.

Mistakes happen, especially in a high volume business. We see automotive recalls, food recalls and others all the time. Cheers, RickO

@MWallace Just curious, were the coins similar to yours, or were they something quite different. I can imagine the surprise, kindof like Christmas, when you get your presents from Santa ;) and are happy (I hope) :p and you get to last of the packages, and say, Hmmmm, I think Santa left these at the wrong house. o:)

I mean, I'm pretty sure I didn't ask him for those Uncirculated Capped Bust Gold Fives! :o:DB)

I have heard of it but is has never happened to me. If it did, I’d show them to my wife, maybe take a picture, and then contact the TPG for how to return them. I wouldn’t expect to get any comps but the TPG should cover all shipping expenses.

They were totally different. They were two modern, low grade coins. Obviously they were sent in by a new Numismatist.

    I have done exactly that.

Has not happened to me though I can certainly understand how it might.
