GSA Morgan Grading. Keep original slab or not?

Happy Fourth everyone. I am new to the forum and would appreciate your opinions on having GSA Morgans graded in the original slabs or having them removed by PCGS and placed in the smaller slabs. Does it hurt collector value to remove them from the GSA slabs?

Yes, removing them from the GSA Plastic does hurt the value some. The NGC banding is preferred over the PCGS coffin. The only reasons to have it removed from the GSA plastic is if the GSA plastic is damages or you want all of your holders to be the same.

By all means, NGC is the best for these slabs as they fit back in the boxes. Most collectors want them as issued.

Welcome to the forum.
I’d definitely leave the coins in their original holders.

@isamucoinandcurrency ... You can post a link to pictures, but I am sure your picture posting status will change next week. One more vote for leaving them in the GSA holder. Cheers, RickO

Welcome to the forum!
The GSA packaging is in "as new" shape. One of my Morgans should grade as a DMPL and I wonder if the graders would get a better look if removed.
Thanks everyone. They will stay original.
When I was collecting those I only bought NGC grades, CAC stickered, ones in original box with certificates. I often hear about stories told by dealers who found garbage cans full of the packaging at shows. Crazy.

I just retired and decided to have some of my raw coins graded after 45 years of collecting. I always felt safe with mint sets and GSA type coins in the original packaging. I sent my first batch of "raw" coins to PSGS for grading and I was surprised to have two of my trade dollars come back "authenticity unverifiable". I measured, weighed, used a magnet and they still didn't pass muster. Oh well.
Later if you want and have the time, posting pictures of them in a new thread could give some information on why they came back that way. There are several here who know them well but not me.

Thank you for that. I will figure out how to upload photos. The coins weren't called counterfiet, so I guess I am one step ahead of that. I wish the graders at PCGS would pass on some notes to back up their opinions.
Am I too old to figure out how to post a picture. I saved them to my desk top but can't figure out how to upload. I clicked on the icon for photos and I am stuck.
Probably to new to the Forum to post pics yet.
Welcome here.

Thanks. Didn't know there was a newness time frame. I was asked about posting some pics so I tried.
