It’s intriguing that the Gold Buffalo Nickel is lightly circulated and has a test cut.

I find it fascinating that after the CoinWeek article was posted on the sale of the gold Buffalo Nickel at 400k, 2 dealers that I do business with called me and offered more.
It could be that both dealers have the same customer, or different ones. It could have sold closer to the 500k asking price, but I am thrilled that Jim purchased it since his obvious passion is Buffalo Nickels!

@lunagately Welcome to the forum Jim, and thank you for posting your thoughts about the coin. What an amazing piece! I think most all of us would agree, we hope you post more about your collections and your numismatic pursuits.

I think it could easily be a $750k coin and I wouldn't be surprised to see it over $1m!
I am already getting calls, emails, and texts from people who also have a gold Buffalo Nickel. Obviously someone plated some at some point. This is going to be fun, ugh.
I still get contacted from people who have a gold Indian Head Cent too, ugh.

Most say that they know that their gold Buffalo Nickel or gold Indian HC is real, so no reason to verify that it’s genuine lol🤣
Maybe I should give them Fred Weinberg’s email address, since these are top-rated mint errors.😈
Even though he has retired and closed his website, he just assisted in authenticating the newly discovered Sac mule.😉

That is a nice coin, and I liked the new owners want to learn more about it and any connection it might have had with the Liberty nickles. Congrats on a great coin!
Zowie! What a coin, conjecture to blow my mind. Thanks to the current owner for sharing your journey with us. Come back and tell us another acquisition adventure, I'm sure you have them. And Mike Byers, A job well done. Peace Roy

@FredWeinberg is awesome! I had a feeling he couldn't stay away and we need his expertise!
He provided some great info on the South Carolina Sac mule to CoinWorld last month. I hope he'll post here and in the Sac mule thread too!
PCGS and Fred Weinberg certify unique 2000-D Sacagawea South Carolina Quarter Mule!
Wow. Congrats to the buyer.
Do you plan to cross it over to a 35th anniversary PCGS holder?
I'm going to give it my best shot!
Good luck Jim!!
I can't wait to see the results Jim!
Keep us posted
