And the bad economy starts to bite.

There is nothing wrong with the coin. It was an impulsive decision to purchase it and I really should be saving my money at this time. Thank you.

I think you might be a bit premature drawing conclusions from one transaction
At least he was honest.
He was too embarrassed to say that his wife was going to smack him with a baseball bat.
You run across all kinds.
Please don't misunderstand, I don't want the economy to crash and I don't want anyone to suffer or lose money. However, I am primarily a collector that rarely sells anything if ever. I would gladly welcome it if prices started to cool off. It seems like everything I try to buy lately goes well beyond my max.
Yes the economy coupled with summer doldrums is having negative impact on my sales. This month really horrible for me. But that’s no excuse for somebody back out of deal like that.
Feel your angst. Certainly aggravating. Hopefully this not something really big ticket.
The coins market hasn’t bite the dust as yet ….. very doubtful it would!
Surprisingly strong sales for the start of summer
@amwldcoin . I used to sell cars in Alabama. I was awesome at it but I didn't like it all that much.
His indecision and buyer's remorse might be an opportunity elsewhere.
How much we talking for what? I'll look at it. I'll go in with the mindset that this might be to help people purchase.
Like others have written. Could be real issues with your back out buyer. I'm in a buying mood right now. I haven't even spent a stack yet and I've already accomplished my coin goals for the year. It's not even July 4th.
So yeah. What you got?
You sell Barbers. Then I saw an orange rock. Then I saw what looked like fish bones. Then I saw some Balboas. I'll stop there. Wrong forum.
Yea, I start to wonder why I'm looking for some of stuff I've been buying, like the Proof coins that go into the 1936 to '42 Proof sets. Virtually all the value is numismatic. There is no gold there, and it's strictly a "luxury purchase." Furthermore, the dealers are asking really strong prices for coins that are not "the keys."
I have all of the Walkers. The pieces that drive me nuts are the cents. The auction prices for them have been not just high, but insane. Furthermore, I have to bid based on the dealers' pictures, not a personal inspection. One spot in the wrong place, and it's game over.
Summer is always a week season for coins but this year really looking bad.
You would never know it from the auction results. Many of them are insane.
I am not looking for anything in particular right now, so have not encountered high prices. I managed to get my recent purchase (1796 Edinburgh medal) for a very reasonable snipe. Cheers, RickO
I set up a table at the Kent show June 11th and sales were brisk for nearly the whole day, sold all of the gold i had with me around 180 face value and collectors coin sales were good as well…
I have to admit i was nervous about even attending because of all the negative banter about economy/slow collector sales etc, but was very happy with the sales…
At least he did not screw you with an unwarranted SNAD to get out of paying for return shipping.
From a buyer of $100-$2500 type coins perspective. I was already basically priced out of numismatic old gold, but with the recent stock market and interest moves, can say that I will be shutting down those purchases likely for the balance of this year.
I will consider generic gold coins or commem’s at melt or melt +5% if I can find it, and local place did sell it at that in the 2017-2020 timeframe, but that’s really just a hedging play.
For the CWTs that I buy, I have seen a slight downturn already in pricing already. I think some sellers are still trying to catch the last of the good times, and I have seen some interesting stuff available. I will consider adding some stuff here, but those are in the sub $300 range. So not as much risk, and I will be very selective.
So I will be part of the slow down.
My two cents.
The low end of the market is likely to soften rather quickly. Recent credit card bills are now starting to arrive and the shock of just how much they had to spend on gas is now sinking in. Low end collectibles of all kinds are going to take a significant hit.
If you’re saying this has now become a buyers market, I would disagree with you. It is still a sellers market. Prices are strong
Housing has started to turn, just a matter of time until collectibles will as well, you can bet your house on it...............
