Pretty easy to see how nice your coin is without the TV but if you want it you should get it. :)<3

That is a stunner for sure! I would be curious to see a nice true view, but it looks great in its current state.

Beautiful dollar and I'm sure she would look great in a Gold Shield holder and True View image for all to see. If you do send her in, be ready to wait longer than your used to before she returns home. PCGS has been perfecting the "Extended Stay" protocol for the last year.

    I agree it’s a beautiful piece.

There are many great coin photographers who participate on the board who can quickly give you an accurate photo. I recommend @robec

Have you looked at the prices of these since you bought it? You might be surprised.
Very nice coin, for the minimal cost of reholder plus Gold Shield it might be worth doing. Maybe wait until turnaround is more reasonable though.

    I'm still waiting for a 1921 that I like, I've passed on a few 63's and even a 65 a few years back, just didn't like them,
Yours looks prefect! I believe Weiss has a really nice one also.

  • msc672msc672 Posts: 9 ✭

If you'd get some enjoyment out of sending it off for some TrueViews, I say go for it.

  • ParadisefoundParadisefound Posts: 8,588 ✭✭✭✭✭

@asheland πŸ₯° I really like that 2021 and missed the entire party in my absence
I will have to acquire one!

  • ashelandasheland Posts: 23,400 ✭✭✭✭✭

Yeah, I got that from the mint, sent it in to PCGS myself, made a 70!

  • jesbrokenjesbroken Posts: 10,134 ✭✭✭✭✭

I would not send it off for the chance(very good) of loss/damage during shipment. It is such a beautiful Peace Piece that I could not stand to think of something happening to it. I do not believe I have ever seen a better 21. Congratulations on a great collection piece.

Registered mail is very safe. IMO the best way to ship valuable coins.

I always ship registered to PCGS. The challenge is getting them to ship registered back - I requested they ship using registered on my last sub, to no avail. I'm now signing up for a USPS corporate account so I can at least use USPS express for return shipping (rather than priority, which seems to be the default for my orders), but I recognize that's only a bit more secure.

Upgrade or reholder, either way do gold shield. New slab and true view...

  • 1northcoin1northcoin Posts: 4,511 ✭✭✭✭✭

There is nothing quite like a high relief Peace Dollar. IMHO the relief elevates it, to use an analogy, from a flat painting to a piece of sculpture. That one deserves to be put on a pedestal.

Don't be surprised if it comes back as a 65+. It happens.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

@Paradisefound .... That is indeed a beautiful Peace Dollar. It could upgrade to a +, so if you decide to get a TruView, you may as well go for the reconsideration as well. Good luck, Cheers, RickO

Maybe a trip to CAC first?

  • coinbufcoinbuf Posts: 11,565 ✭✭✭✭✭

I am not a fan of trueviews so I would not go that route, there are many talented coin photographers that can do a great job without cracking that slab. But it is really a personal decision so you need to do what makes you happy.

Already graded as a gem. Save your money and leave as is. Why put yourself through the ordeal of your special coin possibly being stolen by a post office thief? Opinion.

With what you have in it, you wouldn't lose any good money to try, and if it fails to upgrade then a cac would have added value if you go that route.
    It's def a top shelf 1921!

I believe they only ship registered on very high-value coins. I'm not sure what the threshold is. It's a pain to ship registered, so I can appreciate why they want to avoid it on "lower" value shipments.

Not to take this too far off topic, but I've also learned that if you have your own private insurance, it's more cost effective to use a USPS Express or FedEx corporate account than to use PCGS' default shipping (not to mention more secure). Otherwise you're double paying for insurance.

That would be a loss as it would lose the sticker when the holder changed.

Yes, I know, a lot of back and forth. But I believe if you get the CAC 1st, then submit to PCGS for reconsideration it might help getting the upgrade. Then if it does upgrade at a + you send it back to CAC for re-stickering

Great coin! Decent strike, too. I can't comment on a + grade from a Heritage photo. The value for those has gone bonkers over the last 2 years.

That is quite a nice Peace dollar. I can't comment to whether or not to get it TrueViewed, after all it is your money. However, if you want professional photographs (I assume you can't tale them yourself, no offense, few can including myself ) and you don't mind a wait, I'd send it in for a TV and reconsideration while you're at it.

Great looking Peace! (pun intended) :p

I think if you're really going down that road, send for reconsideration (hope for a Plus), and get the TrueView at the same time. After that you can decide whether to send to CAC.

I think most people would consider that coin in a PCGS holder at 65 with a plus and a bean a trifecta of holy grail like proportions.

    Since you asked.
I think that appears to be one gorgeous Peace.
The strike looks strong and the fields appear very clean.
    No weird blotchy toning either.
A trip to CAC and some skilled photography might just be your preferred path, but what do I know?

Its a lovely coin, congrats first off.

Since it is high enough on your "want to do" list to pose the question, I say do it.

The Gold Shield would look great, and you could get your Trueview glam shot and added bonus of the rfid chip if you so choose (im pretty sure there is an option for the chip ya or nay)

Downfall is that it will be a bit of a wait... but good things...

Best of luck, if you do send Ide like to see it come back with a +

I don't think PCGS cares about the green bean or at least it shouldn't be. It is purportedly offering an independent, professional opinion of its own.

I have other orders pending (regular instead of express) and plenty of complaints about multi-month timeframes but I did just get a couple of coins through the Express Regrade process in what will be less than 2 weeks door to door.
