Dale Friend

Friendships. That’s the best thing for me that comes out of numismatists. Dale Friend was just that, a great friend.
I attended his memorial yesterday in Lake Tahoe. Dale clearly touched
a lot of people in his life.
I met Dale right here on the PCGS forums. Probably about 20 years ago. He invited me out to the house and we looked at coins, had a great BBQ lunch and visited the Carson City Mint. Can you think of a better day?
It starts here folks. Treasure the friends you make because of coins.
RIP Dale.
Attached is a picture of a “Dale Coin” that his son made. How cool.
Collecting since 1976.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve heard so many people talk about how awesome he was but I never had the opportunity to meet him.

That's not a bad likeness of Dale. Pretty cool.
He was an inspiration to so many of us who love capped bust half dollars. I have just one of his. Who can afford many? I think of Dale every time I look at it.
Lance.
I met Dale only once, at a Summer ANA IIRC. We discussed a Barber quarter in my collection that had once belonged to him. Mostly, it's a shame I didn't get to know him better. He had a passion for great coins and a keen eye.
Seth . . .well phrased. I never knew him, except for the passing references and posts here. But I do know you a bit . . . .and realize that instances like these merely reinforce the fact that our hobby builds great relationships.

I am sorry to hear of Dale's passing. I have one piece of his numismatic legacy in my collection. He was known for MS Barber coins, not so much proofs, but here is one of his proofs.
That is a really nice memorial coin his son made. Cheers, RickO
He is someone I would like to have met.

Did not know Dale, but feel lucky to have a couple of his past treasures in my collection. I heard he was a very astute collector.
