    It looks like there is some raised and displaced metal, which would indicate PMD

    Yeah, I saw the raised metal but thought it was just the bottom of the 8.

    That's OK, I was totally looking at the spot at top above the U, I completely missed the date area untill I saw the enlarged picture. (darn bad eyesight B) )

    It is the bottom of the 8.

    I seem to be wrong on these more than right.
    Looks like damage. Besides the previously mentioned moved and above the surface 'metal', What in the striking process would cause the second 8 to be wider/ fatter? Especially noticeable in the central area where the upper and lower loops are coming together.
    Lets see if I can make this too big.

    It is PMD... substantial hit on the date, also made the 8 spread.... Cheers, RickO
