10c 1802 Cracked Like Glass

lilolmelilolme Posts: 2,741 ✭✭✭✭✭

So not really like glass but the reverse die cracks on this one are different - across the top, through stars and devices.
Just reminded me of cracked glass.

Did a quick check for other but didn't find any except this one that sold at HA in 2008. But it is a different die state as it only has the larger 7 o/c up and across and a couple others.

Cool bisecting die crack and clashing.
Nice notes on the die states in the Heritage description, too.
Your coin is JR-2 die state e,
and the Heritage coin is JR-2 die state c.

Lots of fine die cracks.... I don't think the die lasted much longer. Cheers, RickO

The dies in the Mint's early days were held together by duct tape, chewing gum, and magic. That is a gorgeous early dime and a great example of a terminal die state. What a spectacular coin!

    Nice!

The longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it possible for an empire to rise without His aid? Benjamin Franklin
