Need Learned Advice...

I am just a hobby guy and I dot really know all the error/issues with coins. i picked up four pennies online and they pictures weren't great but the price was. I want to ask what is the cause of these mintmark oddities (well, odd to me). Sometimes I see a perfect S and then I see clunky S's and one that seems hard to tell it is an S.
I apologize for the photo quality. Upgrading soon. Any knowledge you can share would be appreciated.

Die detail gets filled with metal particles. Happens from time to time. Peace Roy

My advice to you is simple. Stop buying "stuff" like that. For "errors" to have any real marketability and value they have to have a "WOW! factor. Lumpy mintmarks have no WOW! factor. They are just boring minor abnormalities.
Don't buy anything more until you know the market your dealing in.
The Mint realized that the mintmark was getting illegible, and they redid the design in 1979 (and again in 1981). See https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/three-different-s-mint-marks-on-1979-1981-anthony-dollars.html

Thanks lilolme. I will definitely do some reading.
Thanks everyone. And BTW, I did not buy these because I thought they were errors. I didn’t notice the mint marks until I looked at them under a magnifier. They are simply year samples.
As mentioned above, die chips, die erosion, grease in die... All have effects such as your mint marks exhibit.... These are fairly common and do not command a numismatic premium. Good luck in your searches.... Cheers, RickO
I was reading an appendix in the Cherry Pickers Guide (older ed.) and it seemed to indicate on the 1979 and 1981 Proofs, there were simply two die varieties. They have pictures and sure enough, they both look exactly like these. @Johnathanb posted a link above on SBA's. @lilolme I found some good articles in the spot you referenced. Thank you.
