Finally after a long dry spell, an upgrade for my Barber Half Set!

While not my favorite type of toning, there just aren't many options!

So you have not forgotten about the Barber's with all the Seated activity.
Understand about the toning. Otherwise good.
I did a quick look for these and I get it about not a lot of options. Auctions of a few years ago and I didn't check what they looked like and inventory did not quickly find any.

Sorry to say but that's not toning as that's dip residue that's turned...

This might be worthy of a restoration submission?

Edited to add: You could also have them remove the PVC growth while there.

I tend to agree...the funny thing is it just earned the + on reconsideration!

Wow... Well maybe it could grade even higher after restoration.

Maybe I'll just switch out the tag with this coin that has been tried a few times....and it is way nicer than this pic! Don't have any sun today so can't take my usual pics. The toning is a light - medium lavender not nearly as dark as the picture and it has nice cartwheel luster that isn't showing. I reckon this will be the 3rd 58 I'm keeping alongside my +'s.

Here’s a quick phone picture of above outside on a cloudy day. My phone pictures never capture luster.

You do realize you have blasphemed the coin God! The coin is stable. Here's Heritage picture of it over 5 years ago!

I like your old AU58 a lot more than this new + version. I honestly did not even think your newp was AU58. My feeling on the whole AU58+ thingy is all the grading services would need to bring in all the regular AU58's they graded 30 years earlier. I had a chance to view one of the first ever AU58+ pre-prong holder graded key date Barber half dollars at a Barber meeting with MFH. Mike and I both looked at each other and thought it didn't better any decent AU55 we'd seen.

Which one is it? The date I mean. Pretty sure I've seen all of them. Bet it's my 92-S!

No... I'll PM you the date as I don't have the heart to post it publicly since the owner was basically floating on air with excitement of his new purchase.

Nice coin except for the tarnish... I would have it restored. Cheers, RickO

I agree with this. The coin is salvageable. It should be conserved.
