Doesn't look like it to me. Please post pictures of the full obverse and reverse.
.
It is not the 8/7...However, if you have the extra $$ and just want MORE affirmation, go ahead and send it in... Cheers, RickO

People have looked extensively for the 1888/7 since it has been discovered and not that many have turned up. There’s a reason it’s so valuable. Might be worth taking the time to study all the diagnostics so you can be sure next time.

On the first post, which was a poll, only 2% of the respondents believed it’s 1888/7. Kind of like my kids decades ago - if they asked me for something and I say “No”, they then go to their mom, hoping for a more favorable answer.

Nope. I've cherrypicked one too. So I know what they look like.

He’s not serious in suggesting that this will be recognized as an 1888/7 by PCGS if you send it in. At best, I believe he’s suggesting to send it in so you won’t end up always wondering, and then second guessing as you lose sleep. This way you’ll have the official answer.

Going by the red book, you coin does show the CUD that covers mostly two denticle on Outside edge of rim by "E" in United.
the CUD on the last 8. imagine the 7 there...compare to a regular 1888 lol If I were you look up the rest the characteristics (few markers on obverse + die break on Rev.) just to be sure & If that checks out. I'm sending! Good luck man!!!!

Sorry, no cud and no overdate. But, believe what you want.
Are you saying that the mint reworked damaged dies in 1888 to create the 1888/7 variety? If so, then are there 1887 coins with the same cud as the 1888/7?
I just want to understand the process used to create the 1888/7 variety.
No. A leftover unused 1887 die was repunched with an 8 and then used to strike coins. This die promptly developed the diagnostic rim cud and was pulled from service.
