Given the temporary increase in spot price I can understand the decrease in demand. That said maybe the big drop over the last week will bring an up tick in May.

I think it’s a flawed article. There aren’t many products available for purchase…. I suppose it would look like demand is down when there aren’t orders being placed.

Scroll through the 2022 product page and let me know how many gold/silver items are available for sale…

    The article is about Bullion.
You can Not purchase Bullion directly from the Mint unless you are an AP…

Unfortunately/fortunately I think that demand references the paper/future PM markets.

This is true. However, I'm not sure that even the AD could get all they wanted at all times.

That said, I don't think weaker demand would be a surprise given the price weakness in the last month. It would be more surprising if demand were up while prices were weak.

Buy low, sell high.... That being said, catching the bottom of the dip, or the top of the peak is always a game that results in many missing the target. Cheers, RickO

I have a retail B&M store. Retail sales of bullion were down a bit March to April. I think some of it is that so many people bought into the market since the election last fall that much of the available money has already been spent. Let’s see what the rest of spring brings.

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

I think the outrageous premiums might have some thing to due with it.

I imagine people having to pay their income tax had something to do with it.

Similar to a casino. April and May are always slower.

Prior years' Mint data is available. Doesn't really show a pattern.
