Coin roll hunting and another find

I went through 50 Farm Fresh rolls of nickels this weekend. I found the usual a handful of 64's, 62's, 63's, 60s, 40s, and a 58d. Surprising find was a 1943-p war nickel. Found it in the 50th role that I searched. It's dirty it's grungy and it beat up. However it's 35% silver. I love searching coin rolls because you never know what you find. Now back to the bank with the Nickels that I don't want and pick up a new batch and start all over again. Happy Hunting guys.

Nice find... They are indeed out there.... In rolls, in change - and - maybe in parking lots Well, it is possible... Cheers, RickO
You're absolutely right they still are out there after after 77 to 80 years. I have to agree with your parking lot comment, because they all seem to look like they've been in a barrel of oil for years and years and maybe run over by a Mack truck in the parking lot. However, 35% silver is is still silver no matter how bad it looks.

Nice find!
Love war nickels
Nice catch, I can't even remember the last time I got one of them
I've been lucky enough to find about 15 of them just going through rolls of coins from the bank in the last few months. Just hard to believe that they're still in circulation or people are returning them to the bank, kind of hard to believe. I just picked up four rolls of them about a month ago I'm just put it in my safe so my grandkids can actually see what they look like someday.

I know what you mean I went through 50 rolls this weekend and it was in the 50th roll I searched. All I can say is it's free silver.

OK. You've given me reason to go thru all these rolls of nickels my dad labeled 1937-1964. Guess I better look up "war nickel" while I'm at it. Cheers!

They're really easy to spot. They were made the last half of 42 43 44 and 45. There are 11 total the Nichols will look real dark and gungi because of the silver content in them and the way their tarnished and where. The p, d, and s mint marks are large and positioned above Monticello. Happy Hunting

I don't have them in hand yet, but I was told that they would order them from the Boston Federal reserve on Friday and that I would have them on Monday.
Time will tell.

Don't the modern coin rolling machines reject silver coins due to weight ?

@BobSav I didn't really know that silver coins were ever rejected when they roll coins. I think we're only talking about less than a grams difference between a silver and a clad or non silver coin.

I've got a box of nickels and a box of pennies that I was supposed to pick up tomorrow, but I won't be able to pick them up till Monday because I'm out of town. It's great when you can find a place to go give you the boxes instead of Roll by roll. Good hunting I hope you find the war nickel.

Latest update on my coin box orders.
I was informed today that I needed to order 2 boxes (minimum) of halves to get them so my pickup date is now Tuesday.
My pre-order now stands at:
One box of cents ($25.00),
One box of quarters ($500.00) and two boxes of halves ($1000.00).
I won’t tell you the amount of currency that I ordered with the coins.
My understanding is that the order goes thru my main bank who gets my order filled from the Federal Reserve Bank.
Hoping for some star notes and some rolls of 2022 Kennedys.
It is two wheeler time. Lol

Neither was I, but was so intrigued by the forum’s coin finds, that I called my bank.
They researched it for me and let me know that to get sealed boxes, that I needed to order 2,000 ($1000.00 face) coins at a time. Each sealed box has a face value of $500.00 dollars.
My bank offered the use of their two wheeler to get them to my car.

Bank.
I think that 2022 half dollars could be NIFC's, but, I don't know for sure. Thus, if they are NIFC's they may not show up for some time. But in time, they always show up somehow.
@WAYNEAS I checked with my credit union and yes they can order half dollars also. I'll pick up my first box on Friday. I have no idea what I'm going to find oh, but I'm anxious anxiously awaiting to look through those rolls. I picked up one box and nickels and two boxes of pennies last week. I've gone through half of the first box of pennies and all the way through the box and nlckels and that's where I found this truck through capped die nickel.

I started with the rolled quarters.
8 rolls down with no great finds.
WITH YOUR LUCK, YOU WILL FIND MANY SILVER HALVES. LOL
Wayne
Kennedys are my quest...
@WAYNEAS I not sure about that luck. I haven't found a "W" quarter in about 250 rolls now, still searching. I've only found 25 so far, the rest I got from Ebay. This is the only thing and I mean THANG in my 1st box of cents
It kinda looks like lincoln with a toupee or mulet. LOL

On May 13th I found another West Point quarter. It was a 2019 River of No Return quarter. That makes number 26 that I found and still looking. They're still out there.

We go through a ton of half dollar from BoA as change for market. Never found a silver one in all the years.
How am I supposed to get a box of half dollars for my credit union on Friday. The company delivered a a box of quarters and two boxes of Dimes. So I took the box of quarters and that's where I found the West Point quarter. Luck of the draw.

Well I went through a box of nickels yesterday and I found a few in the 40s and 50s kind of nice fillers. What I found it was really nice was a 1936 Buffalo nickel. Not in great shape however but the date is readable. I love going through rolls of coins you never know what you're going to find. Hopefully I can get another box or two this coming wait.

Not from a roll but got it in change today. I'll put it back in circulation for another collector to have fun with it.
I love Jefferson's from the 30's and 40's. I'd see them regularly in the 1970's. There's something about the placement of the date that made them different from others that circulated in those days.
One interesting find was a 1939 double MONTICELLO, VF. Found it in my cash box at the liquor store I worked. That was a great job for a young numismatist.
