A cool Bust Dollar

This one definitely served its purpose!
Extra cool that you can easily identify it as a 1799/8 13 stars reverse, based on the date & the bottom of T in STATES with respect to the cloud below it, which are just barely visible.

Neat and looks pretty wholesome too.
That one is exactly what a circulated coin from the 18th century should look like.

Love it!! PO-1?

Nice coin @stealer. I wish that coin could talk, because that is genuine wear from being on someone's pocket for many, many years. When that coin was struck, George Washington was still alive, but just barely.
You actually have a 1799/8 dollar. There were three uses of the overdated obverse die: BB-141, 142 and 143). None are rare, but out of the three die marriages, BB-143 (B-2) is the hardest to find. Your example is the BB-143.
According to the Bowers & Borckardt reference on the subject, there are less than 500 examples of this die marriage extant, and I would bet money that you have the lowest grade example for the variety.
I think there's to much meat on that bone for a PO-1

It really deserves to get into attributed plastic.
Is it bent?

Very nice. A coin on my wish list.
Now that coin has seen some commerce, some pocket time and just about everything else... Cheers, RickO
Do you feel that a bend would hurt the perceived value, or are you suggesting that the coin would not straight-grade at PCGS if it had a slight bend?
I suspect he is trying to prescribe the asymmetrical wear pattern

I think the metal is a bit thicker in the center of the coin, but that's applicable to both sides. Putting it on my copystand, I don't see any noticeable bend to it.
That's really cool, never took a look at the Bowers & Brockardt reference, I may have to check that out thanks!
Hope you don't mind me posting this but I came across this a few years back. It did it's job as well. Bought it raw and it came back as a PO1
Excellent question and very cool coin!
Wow... that's an amazing find.
