Finished my 1932-1964 Dansco Washington Quarter Album - date/mm set

ThreeCentSilverFLThreeCentSilverFL Posts: 1,694 ✭✭✭✭✭

Just recently finished this up. It was a fun set to build. All are UNC to high-AU. A few of them I plucked from my Grandfather's Whitman album to seed this set. The rest (excluding a few) I've picked up raw. I think they all match nicely. The 1932 S and 1932 D are still in slabs, so duplicates fill those holes.

Nicely done set. There's a lot of luster there.

Congrats, very pleasing to the eye. Any significant errors found during your journey? Peace Roy

    Very nice.

How long did it take to fill the album with the 1932-1964 silver quarters?

Are you next going to fill the 1965-1998 holes with AU-UNC clad quarters? If you do, I suspect that finding AU-UNC clads from 1965-1988 that are eye appealing and of similar quality of the 1932-1964 silver quarters is going to be much more time consuming and labor intensive than the finding the 1932-1964 silvers.

Good luck if you fill the 1965-1998 holes.

I've bought all of the first page quarters slabbed and labeled the spot with the certification and used a circulated coin to fill the spot. I wish I had the guts to crack them out. Yours looks way better than mine. Nice job.

One of my favorite album sets to make and still one that is affordable to do in that grade! Nice job!

Nice looking book. Now you need to find a dealer with a box of date tubes of clad quarters to look through and pull out a decent UNC of each.

    Great Accomplishment.
    I love the Washington Quarters.
    Many, many varieties too.
    Congratulations.

    Very nice set!
I am 'working on' a low grade set housed in a 1958 Library of Coins album. I really went a little crazy and cracked out an ANACS 1932-D AG3 to fill that hole ;)

That’s a beautiful set! It looks like you took a lot of care in selecting pieces with a consistent and appealing look. I assembled (from circulation) a clad set when I was a kid. I have often thought it would be a fun project to finish it with an AU/BU silver set such as you have here. Congrats!

It looks terrific! I built a couple of these as MS64 sets and put one in the blue Whitman Classic style albums and the other in blue Capital Plastics holders. They are a great set to build.

    Nice set.
I did the same, just after they announced the coming States quarters.

I put together the set in choice unc, except for the 1932 D & S + the 1936 D [D/D/D mintmark] all in nice AU

All quarter albums should be 1932-1964, then another starting in 1965-1998, then an album for each series. This should be a law!!

Great looking set! I'm considering doing the exact same set once I finish all my current projects.

Love it. Years ago I considered ( briefly ) cracking out my PCGS silver Washington set. Now looking at your Dansco, I once again find myself thinking about it. It just displays so much better. Still haven't dropped the $$$ on the 32 D but the rest are minimum ms64 white with everything from 40 to 64 in ms65 white. You have a very nice set there.

@Namvet69 haven’t started looking for errors or varieties, that’ll be fun!

@SanctionII took about 3 years or so, on and off.

@braddick “PA” = the 3 coins I snatched out of grandpa’s old Whitman set of shiners to seed this set. They were the only Uncs.
