prepare yourself first. i've seen some nasty confrontations surrounding the quarter carts in person and online.
one day i saw this lovely young lady covered in tats and piercings utter a few swears at some other lady i didn't catch a glimpse of (nor did i hear any rebuttles, so she was smart enough to just get away) but the F bomb was used in conjunction with the word that rhymes with the baseball move where you hit the ball softly into the infield and the young lady didn't really slow down in overall quantity or intensity until she got in her car, although i doubt it really stopped there.
when my walking caught up to be near this wonderful young lady as i happened to be parked next to her thankfully and i looked deeply into her eyes with a look that hopefully conveyed that i was truly sorry for whatever happened in her life to lead to such an overreaction over such a trivial thing, i braced myself for a continued verbal barrage (in my direction) but i didn't say anything and neither did she.
i won't lie though, i did laugh quite a bit about it that day and many days that followed. kinda one of those you gotta be there moments. i did also think (to myself) that if she got rid of the tats, piercings and had a brain transplant, she'd make a halfway decent looking girlfriend!
That is great.... A W quarter in the wild!! I am still looking for my first one.... In the wild that is. @LanceNewmanOCC... Any indication that young 'lady' was in the Navy?? Proficiency in cussing is a Naval art.... Cheers, RickO
That young lady didn't happen to be a gate agent at the Philly airport, did she? I have seen some impressively creative swearing by both staff and passengers there.

LOL
i dunno but if that thought HAD occurred to me, it would have been even MORE of an incentive to NOT say anything as the last thing i would have needed besides being screamed at/cursed out by some chickie-doo 1/3 my size is to also have had my butt kicked by said chickie-doo 1/3 my size, at the grocery no less. in a bar, i could live with, just not the grocery. besides her proficiency, it was the intensity. i FELT her anger/hate. i did instinctually look around to see if there would by any cars flying around/backing up abruptly or anyone with a gun(s). in this new age we are in, one must keep a good situational awareness when people fly off the handle over the quarter carts!
@LanceNewmanOCC... You are very correct about situational awareness. Be cognizant at all times regarding who is around, where exits are, developing situations... etc. Avoidance is the safest route, every time. Cheers, RickO
The shame I carry, day to day, month to month and now year to year. My animals have lost a great deal of respect for me. The family won’t make eye contact.
Yes I know the weight one carries.
I’m sorry, I just can’t talk right now 😳🙀🦫

you mean to ask why is it good to find a (first) W quarter in the wild?
Yes. I had no idea ... just looked it up.
I suppose everyone here know this, but...
What is Happening?
To celebrate the 96th annual National Coin Week, in 2019, the United States Mint released West Point Mint mark quarters into circulation for the very first time! In total, 10 million quarters, two million of each America the Beautiful Quarter, bearing the “W” mint mark will be mixed into circulation for lucky change holders everywhere to seek out.
The 2019 W-Quarters mark the first time that circulating coinage struck at West Point Mint has received a “W” mint mark. "Firsts" within the coin collecting hobby always bring excitement to the coin world, especially for collectors working on full sets of a specific series. The mint mark also instantly distinguishes them from regular circulating quarters that do not have a mint mark. Will these be the only Quarters to ever bear the W Mint mark? Or is this the start of a larger tradition?
While 10 million coins may sound like a lot, the W quarters will only account for around 1% of the total circulating quarters produced in 2019, making them a significant find. For comparison, in 2018, the U.S Mint released more than 1.85 billion quarters into circulation whose mintages ranged from 289.6 million to 439.8 million across the five designs released last year. That is a LOT of circulating quarters.
you mean to tell me you know NOTHING about the W/privy quarter program and the HUGE prices for some of them in high-grade tpg holders. (i haven't been keeping track so they coulda went up and/or down since)
pcgs issuing multi-thousand dollar rewards for the first coins submitted?
some of these still sell for idk, $20 +/- even from pocket change.
don't get me wrong, i'm shocked at some of the things i've missed so i'm not poking a stick. just a bit taken aback considering the hundreds or even thousands of posts surrounding the program.
in any event, hope it helps bring you into the fold. (for better or worse lol)
