CAC Results Revealed For 1926 Nickel Restoration Project

Joey29Joey29 Posts: 458 ✭✭✭

So I just received my results for my restoration nickel which is a green sticker. Happy with my results just wish it were gold not green. Was it worth it. Yes as I removed the PVC and got a CAC sticker as I always felt this was one of my more special coins and didn’t want to sell it. I also got a PCGS membership which I will use for additional submissions.

    You will likely keep this coin for many years to come, and now you have a great story explaining the journey of your 1926 Buffalo. That's priceless, imho. And thank you for conserving this piece for others to enjoy centuries from now! Too many numismatic gems have been devoured by PVC and other contaminants (humans) over the past 75+ years.

    To be truthful I can't see the PVC effect on your coins. Both the before and after coin pictures look nice. Can you describe the difference? I do see that the later is whiter; but, isn't the former just nice light toning?

    I’m not sure what to say. Your coin looks great and it has a sticker but you probably spent more money to get a sticker than the coin is actually worth.

    I liked the original nice gold toning very much but apparently they don’t use acetone, so I have a newly minted blazing white look which is also okay by me.

    Yes I spent a lot lol, too much. But I wanted to keep my original coin as I was attached to it. I could have sold it and bought another one but it is hard for me to find the look I like. So now I will either keep this permanently or find another blazer coin with attractive pretty toning

    Congratulations!

    I was correct in your original thread that:

    1. It would indeed get a green CAC sticker, despite having undergone Restoration;
    2. It would not get a gold sticker.

    As my late wife would often say to me, “If your arms were any longer, you could pat yourself on the back”, lol.

    Now the real question, can you tell the difference from a MS66 CAC?

    I am not so well versed in Buffalo Nickels but the amazing luster and nice flash I thought would overcome the moderate mark in the Indians hair. CAC is more weighted on surface marks and preservation, that’s probably why no gold
