This thread is to celebrate classic error coins. Post any great error you have or simply appreciate here!
The US Mint has struck many coins over the years.
Let's start with a Fugio, the first US Federal coin. Here's gorgeous specimen and this one is a gorgeously, perfectly double-struck.

"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
That is incredible.

If I owned one of these, this one would be it.
IS IT AVAILBLE, please ???
I posted it on IG today but not to sell it. You did like it there
I agree! It’s the most amazing early error I’ve seen. It’s perfectly positioned.
PM sent.
What is the forum feelings on:
Was it helped?
My thought is yes.
Is there any evidence of error collectors and midnight minters in 1787?
People have always liked fun.
Are there any others from this time period?
Any other springs?
Coins that you think got help.
Not that I recall. Ask me in 10 years, which I hope Locks me into being here for that
Any thoughts on where this could end up in the Top X errors?
I'm thinking definitely Top 20 but need to review the others to see how high this could go.
As the first U.S. Mint coin, the Fugio is the perfect coin for a classic U.S. Mint error coin thread.
So, let's celebrate all U.S. Mint classic error coins in this thread!
Here's a U.S. Mint struck coin struck in San Francisco to get us rolling
The Manila Mint opened in 1920 so all US-PI coins struck earlier than that were struck by the U.S. Mint in the continental US, like this one.
1945 S Philippines Error Goodie
A Tom Mulvaney image of possibly finest know 1918 over 17 Bison. Tom told me the old guy who was a kid got it in change way back in the day.
Great coins @LindyS! Nice USPI! Love the overdate but some will say it’s variety!
It is a variety. Not an error, but I would be proud to have it in my error archive being all shinny & new. Instead I got me a 8x10 image of it.
Speaking of Classic Buffalo Nickels…
https://minterrornews.com/discoveries-3-22-22-unique-gold-buffalo-certified-by-ngc-au-53.html
It’s a die error!
The overdate looks super strong. Great coin!
Great Buffalo! The best???
The buffalo nickel is one of the few All-American designs so it’s amazing to have one in gold!
I’m just seeing slightly double……

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
Those stars are super interesting!
I have to say I love buffalo nickels so I really like the 1918/7 overdate and the gold buffalo posted by @LindyS and @Byers above!
So I went looking for more Buffalo errors and just ran across this one from The Happy Coin:
1919 Buffalo Nickel Double Struck 40% Off Center Error
Grade: PCGS MS63
Pedigree: Chris Moran
What an incredible coin! It looks perfect, like the Fugio in the OP.
The full ANACS cert isn't shown but I'm guessing it will provide more of a clue to past ownership and provenance. There is a post it note on top that says "G. W. Butts". Is that the name of a collector or dealer?

@Zoins
Here are 2 classic Buffalo Nickel mint errors that I sold and among my favorite Buffalo’s:
These are amazing coins.

@Zoins
Here’s another unique Buffalo Nickel off metal that was featured front page Coin World and is on the uspatterns website as well:
You should put a high price that you would sell to let the potential buyer know that’s the price they need to pay if they want it.
It would fun to do a version of that with a coin over $1m, like the 1933 DE or 1794 plugged dollar. Then have Number Two say the coin is already worth more than $1m!
That's incredible Mike @Byers!
How likely do you think this was owned by Colonel Green, Eric P. Newman and B.G. Johnson?
I read about it on your site
https://mikebyers.com/copperbuffalo.html
I think the full sized copper buffalo was owned by Chambers. He told me about it after he sold it like 30 years ago.
I don’t remember where I bought it, but it could have been Mike Chambers. Mike and I did a ton of business from 1975 to 2010. I bought some amazing off metals from him.
Here's the TrueView for Chris Moran's 1919 Double Struck Buffalo Nickel!
Great info.
As a pedigree nut, It would be great to have this pedigree / provenance info in Mint Error News, CoinFacts, or some other reference
@Zoins
Great idea. I will work on a list of errors purchased from Mike Chambers. It dates back 47 years so it won’t be completed today.😉
Cool nickel
Here's a nice 1883-O Morgan Dollar I ran across on Thomas M. Pilitowski's site.
Lucky more of the date wasn't cut off!
The Fugio cent is not a U.S. Mint coin. It was struck by a private contractor.

"Everything you say should be true, but not everything true should be said."----Voltaire
It's the first regular issue U.S. Federal coin. Perhaps the thread should be changed to "U.S. Federal"?
Compelling thread. Love looking at these “errors”!
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
Many of these are probably errors and not "errors" as much as some may like to think so!
A little off…..
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
Here are two more. The first is a Trade Dollar in PCGS-63.
The second is a more classic, sorry about the image on the second one!......enjoy....Keoj
