Breaking them out
I needed some extra cash for major car maintenance and with the current market, decided to sell some of my dupe Morgans. I had to decide whether to sell my raw coins in the Dansco or my slabs, which were the better coin. Several of the raw coins were busted out of slabs years ago.
Even though I could have gotten twice as much money, or sell less, I couldn't part with the better coins. So I sold 17 of my raw coins and made a nice profit. Had them and these slabs for 15+ years and they are all going into the Dansco in the next couple of days. Will be a big upgrade in the Dansco as they are 2 - 5 steps up in grade.
I've posted photos of several of these, esp. like the 89CC, 93CC, 93O and 03S and they have a nice original look. The 85S, 90S and 91S have very clean mirrors, and the 83S was PL before circulation. I might soak a couple in acetone just as a precaution and quickly dip the ANACs 87S and 02S since the toning is more of the rust color.
Thought I'd share before setting them free.

You have great taste in Morgans! However, a true coin collector would have either sold an organ or purchased a bike before selling coins to fix a car. Especially with gas at over $6/gallon. (Just kidding)
You have photo proof of each coin in the respective slab with the assigned grade. I would keep all of the slab labels, along with the photos, for the next time to want to sell some of them.
Numisma,
We're on the same page. That helped when I sold the raw coins. With these 17, will probably have more than 1/3 of the Dansco with the original slab grades.
With the longs waits and increased expenses of grading these days I could not imagine doing that since the coins are "in the holder". If with disappointing grades the time and expense are significant hurdles.

Too bad they don't make a "folder" or "album" for slabs that could replace the Dansco.
All I can think about is all the money that goes in the trash along with those slabs.
I assume the cost of slabbing was worth the seller's time & cost to maximize their proceeds, get quicker sales and increase marketability. Never understood someone slabbing a generic Morgan that was not Choice BU though.
For me, I like the album look and feel and ability to take the coin out and hold. Doesn't bother me I'm losing some value, I am a collector for the long haul. My buyer of the raw coins knocked me down 10% of their slabbed FMV since they were raw and was going to holder before selling. That lost value over the last 15 years doesn't compare to the enjoyment I had with them.
Feel sorry that you had to sell.
Glad you made a profit.
Been there a few times myself.

If you want to make a Dansco album for your slabs coins just build one using these albums Here:

We all have been there it’s life. But at least you made money and nice to have a safety net when needed.
Hoard the keys.
Do us a favor and take those NTC labels and throw them away. Not a reliable grading company is the nicest thing I could say.

They do make a page insert for slabbed coins, I used them for my walker 33-47 set. They just are made for open folders and not nearly as cool as Dansco's and the like. Probably should make an album that seals when closed for slabbed collections, but to my knowledge no one does.

Yep, agree it does not add any value to others besides what they see with the naked eye. The only NTC coin I bot, kept since it reminds me of purchase history. I buy the coin, not the holder. It was a good buy, was $15 cheaper than the others from the top TPGs, and IMHO is a 64, all white, has a cameo obv, and Liberty is clean, Though I wouldn't give it the PL due to the reverse.
Very nice collection of slabbed Morgans. I do understand about albums and being able to hold the coin. I have many raw Morgans. I do not sell coins myself, but seems a shame to crack out all those coins.... If the situation arose that I had to sell, I likely would have sold the slabbed coins and kept the raw ones to enjoy. Cheers, RickO
I flipped back and forth for over a week before deciding on selling the raw. Could of sold the 89CCV and 93CC and gotten the funds I needed. Almost pulled the trigger listing these 2 on BST since I knew they would sell fast, get me FMV and no complaints. But couldn't give up the better coins and all the effort to get these. They were my treasure.
Hopefully the last time to do this. I do some some extra dupes that raw and slab are the same grade and look, and may list those slabs on BST.
Thanks for all your feedback.
