Pretty sad to need so much attention to not get when it is time to move on. Pathetic.

He's as competitive as they come. He couldn't stay away. He's still playing at a high level and plays in a crap division. I'm happy to have him in the NFL. He's the face of the league literally and figuratively

I guess the only record left for him to break is number of times retiring
and then unretiring currently held by Brett Favre.

So he's already tired of inventing new colors?

    DarinDarin Posts: 6,371 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Well this is a disappointment.
With football again at the forefront of his attention, he will have a hard time gaining ground
on the current number 1 color inventor of all time. The list as it now stands..............

    1. God
    2. Tom Brady
    3. Currently no one else has claimed to invent any colors.

So far all the Bucs have really announced is a slight change to Brady's uniform.

And this version of Brady's uniform now appears to be the best selling jersey of the year so far!

Wonder what the SB odds will be for TB. Many will hope for a SB win. Then retires in symbolic fashion?

I’m thinking Guy Lafluer, MJ, and a few others retired and came back.

    devil's advocate post in 3, 2, 1...

the great ones just can't let go

had he retired after winning a ring with Tampa, he'd be considered -- at least to me -- the best of the best............in any sport, ever. not only would he possess every conceivable accolade, but he also would have known the optimal time to get out ("hey Bill, it was me and not you.......sit n spin on this middle finger") and thus looked like a champion in that regard as well

but now i just don't see how him coming back can do anything but smear some tarnish on his legacy. he's not going to win another ring (feel free to pop this thread and call me out if he does), and sooner rather than later his skill set is going to erode to a point where he simply looks like a blundering old man out there. yes, he seems to be superhuman, but i promise you it's not a matter of if but when father time will tap him on the shoulder.

idk man, i just don't get it. absolutely nothing more to prove on the gridiron, enough money to last him 100 lifetimes, a family that could be the recipient of all the time he's once again going to devote to football. not to mention he's injecting potentially life-altering injuries back into the equation. i mean, if the guy had nothing else to live for i could see him making this move, but that's simply not the case and thus i just can't make sense of it

hope i'm wrong, but i don't think this is going to end well for Brady

I have personally never faulted an athlete for playing until they cant play anymore. I have never seen the allure of retiring at your peak. when athletes do that i am always left wondering "what if" what if Koufax had been able to play 9 more years? what if jordan hadnt "retired" in 1993? etc.

I have never felt Mays, Jordan, Mantle, Ruth, Schmidt, Brett etc tarnished their legacies by playing well past their peaks. you can never take away what Mantle or mays did in thier primes by playing 2 or 3 years too long. In Bradys case, he is still playing at an MVP level, he will just happen to be 45 years old next seaason.

None of Bradys records or rings will be erased if he happens to have a couple of poor seasons at the end of his career. all he will have done is remove the doubts and everyone elses minds of what if...

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Maybe he asks to be cut and then sign a one day contract with the Pats.

It looks like Tampa football might be interesting for another season. It’s a good thing the Bucks didn’t hire or trade for another quarterback.

Not surprised at all, I thought he would be happy with the all time passing yards record but apparently he was not.

I don't blame him for un-retiring, spending too much time at home can drive you stark mad, and it's only a matter of time before Tom and Gisele start getting on eachothers nerves and Tom gets caught mumbling.

If I were healthy, I wouldn't retire until I was unable to play.

    He's obviously still very good.
