I found my first non-sealed PCGS slab today

Going through some coins, I noticed one was rotated 90 degrees in the slab. When I pulled it out of the PCGS box, the coin fell out of the bottom... Is this an Ultra Rarity I can sell for $10,000 on eBay? I'm really glad it was a silver bullion coin and not anything of real value.
I will add that after all these years, I found out that PCGS slabs are NOT put together like I expected. Have they changed how the two pieces join over the years?

@jessewvu My first thought is, have you determined that it's not a fake slab? Peace Roy

It was an order I had directly with PCGS.
Just like the production facility where I've worked for about 38 years, I can tell you from personal experience; as production increases the percentage of mistakes generally goes up.
That still sucks!!!

I'll stick it in my little box of PCGS slab rarities/mechanical errors.
the spookiness of the c19 era knows NO BOUNDS!
i'm actually started to get worried about asking, "WHAT"S NEXT?!?!"
edited to add. the pic above my posts looks like it simply missed being sonically sealed altogether.
fwiw, i've seen some issues with psa sealed card slabs as well in some youtube vids from this c19 era.
How many weeks did that order sit in QC?
They use an ultrasonic method to 'weld' the plastic. If done properly, it is supposed to melt the plastic half joints together.
I just had a ICG sample slab fall apart in my hand .. I am going to use super glue to put it back together.
Super glue fumes can damage the coin. I bought a run of silver proof sets 99-08 and the 99 had the silver coins swapped with clad, and the lens had been super glue back together. All the coins had a gross white film on them. I guess that's what I get for buying on eBay.. the price was low enough it still wasnt a bad deal.
Throw some duct tape on that puppy and list it on eBay
That's the first time I've seen that on a newer generation slab. I've seen plenty of the old rattlers come apart back in the day.
Your hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need it.
Gorilla Glue. Bob’s your uncle.
That is unusual.... I am sure customer service will honor re-slabbing... Call them, you will likely have to include the slab pieces... They will be able to determine it was not properly sealed. Cheers, RickO
Agree. They have experts that can make this determination with a fairly high degree of accuracy.

I was looking at the lower left corner and saw what looks like the "embossed shield".
Is this an NFC Chipped holder?
Quite sure that PCGS would fix this issue.

Kennedys are my quest...
Will it still grade 70 after falling out?

Next thing they'll be sending coins back, with empty slabs and you cut labels!

I got four in a row of these the other day. Was doing some imaging and went to take a sticker off and the holder came apart.
Wow.
QC needs to adhere to a check list.
Please check yes or no.
HAS THE SLAB BEEN THRU THE SEALING PROCESS?

Kennedys are my quest...
You too??
This just happened with my 2 restorations.
I didnt take pix of when the holders came apart, but they did. And the (bad) pix show post-reorientation.
I just sent them back for free reholder service today.
These coins now have a story ... this is their 3rd trip to PCGS; original grading, restoration, reholder.
Now I know what the innerds look like - when the plastic "rings" are used for smaller coins.
Sounds like the sealer gizmo needs to be fixed, recalibrated or replaced soon. Peace Roy

All you have to do is pay shipping both ways and wait 6 months

Maybe not, it depends.
In my case, I sent 2 coins in for initial grading, came back with a restoration recommendation sticker, sent back in, came back with the faulty holders.
Emailed PCGS, and cust svc sent a fedex label and instructions to send in for free reholder.
The wait time? Hopefully expedited. It is noted as Express, but not an indicator of turnaround. We'll see.
OP's is a 2021, so recently graded and slabbed. He just noticed it.
With the flood of grading, I bet the "gizmo" is showing signs of wear.
