I like coin 5 the most. It seems to have better details on the braid and the reverse looks well hammered. Overall the best strike in the group.

The greenery growing on the lower reverse bothers me greatly on #5, shame with such a nice strike.
Number 4 would be my favorite of the 5.

@jesbbroken Yes I see that. Maybe a nice acetone bath would take care of the spot. will have to wait until the coins get back.

@gumby1234 Did you send these to grade? I think 62, 58, 58, 65, possible PVC. I like 5 the best as well.

Sorry to not give a rave, but these coins are fairly typical. A lot of 1913 Type I Buffalos were saved, and many of them look like this. The trick is to find them "hammered" on both sides with bright luster.

You have to look for those, and sometimes the TPGs don't give them the credit they deserve. I saw one like that at a Baltimore show years ago. The dealer was angry because he didn't get a higher grade, and he was right. I didn't buy it because he wanted the next grade up money, $200, and I already had a Matte Proof.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
