It is getting harder and harder to find them.
Any new information about them?

You can get a “digital” Dansco 7070 for FREE from the PCGS Registry. Here’s mine:

I've been hearing rumors about production. With that i don't listen to it, jmo

I have heard there have been some problems in the new location, and production has been negatively impacted. Cheers, RickO

You can probably find them on ebay - even the used ones are usually in good shape because they are so well-built and durable.

I have given up on Dansco ever coming back. Here is a thread from 2019:

Yes, used albums are available on eBay, at 2-3x when they were new!

A 1963 corvette costs 20-250x what they did when they were new.

When they break $100 I may sell mine. The bad part is they may drive up prices of other Albums.

Thanks for your kind words. My goal was just to let other collectors know that PCGS does indeed offer these handsome "digital" albums, at no cost. While it does take a tiny bit of time to put it together, i have the sense that not all collectors on this forum are aware of this.

I've bought several from ebay now for not too terribly much. Just bought a jefferson album today that was for all intents and purposes new for about 25 bucks. My walking liberty Dansco I got for 15ish dollars (auction closing at a bad time imo). Best bet is to just set a saved search and snap them up when they show up at a reasonable amount.

Was very lucky I found a nice used 7070 at a show for 15 bucks about a decade ago. Bought a new gold page for it last year for it which cost almost twice as much, haha!

Had not checked the Dansco "market" lately. Wonder if old Whitman albums are higher as well :o

I had Dansco albums. Turned my coins green.

  • vulcanizevulcanize Posts: 1,408 ✭✭✭✭✭

Found many of my Dansco albums for original prices at an LCS with no online presence located in the boondocks.
The gold page for 7070 was pricey and had to be sourced online though. :s

I, like many others have a need for individual pages as well as a couple albums. Been following the Dansco saga for awhile now. Correct me if I am wrong but the initial issue of product availability started when Dansco moved from California to the town of Sumas in Washington state due to California tax regulations not favorable to small businesses. Then Covid hit before the company could fully ramp up production in their new facility. ( 6 month + closure ) Followed by a devastating flood in the town which damaged inventory and equipment. The latest info is the company is now up and running although with reduced staffing. Looks to me like it may still be awhile before we see all albums and pages readily available.

@Tom147 I heard that they were flooded twice.

A few years back I just went out and bought blank pages and labeled them myself (clear labels) I made a complete Innovation Dollar album, made pages for my Lincolns, Jeffersons, Roosevelts, Washingtons, Kennedys, Dollars that takes me to 2035 to 2043

  • Tom147Tom147 Posts: 1,485 ✭✭✭✭✭

gumby, hadn't heard that. Sorry to hear. Do you know the dates of the flooding ?

WALLE, done the same on a few Kennedy albums as the production albums did not include Accented Hair or some of the 2014 variations. Using a Brother handheld labelmaker, clear label tape and the correct font, very hard to tell the difference between factory print and my own labels.

  • Tom147Tom147 Posts: 1,485 ✭✭✭✭✭

Quick bit of research shows Nov. 15th 2021 75% of homes and businesses in the town suffered damage. Less information available but looks like Nov. 28th they got hit again.

  • davewesendavewesen Posts: 6,392 ✭✭✭✭✭

the first flood was February 2-3, 2020

I think the updates listed on Dansco site were before this last flood of November 2021 (which was bigger)

78% of the properties in Sumas, WA have "Extreme" flood risk (higher than 99% of towns in the US).
The Nooksack River goes through town and the town is fairly flat with most properties not being much above the river.
    https://floodfactor.com/city/sumas-washington/5368330_fsid

The Dansco building is actually slightly outside the worst flood zone, as it is close to the Canadian border and has a slightly higher elevation. This just means the water doesn't get quite as deep in the building!

I don't know how you can compare a car to a coin album, but ok.

The 1963 Corvette brings back a very sad memory .
In 1968 a neighbor of mine who just graduated high school bought a 1963 corvette. He was drafted into the armed services in 1969. He stored the '63 Vette in a barn until he was to come back and get out of the service. He was killed in Vietnam. His parents, grief stricken, left the car in the barn for many years. I don't know whatever happened to it.

I am sorry to hear this story. I remember I was 9 when Nixon declared the cease fire. I was worried about the conflict even as a young man. Now I worry about my 22 year old son today with this new conflict!

I posted the photo to response to someone comparing the Dansco valuation to a 63 Corvette valuation increase. It's my father's car he bought new. I am the caretaker now and drive it often in season.

War is always a difficult topic, so am going to be posting my Danscos, here is all my nineteen fully completed albums.
Only empty slot is in the Morgan where a 1895 is supposed to find it's way in there. :frowning:
Even if one was in possession of the King of Morgan dollars, not sure who in their right mind would crack one out from the slab and pop it in the album. :#

Which would be?????? Pray do tell because am very curious now.

If one of them is the Jefferson nickels, still have them in the original Whitman because I like the look of those albums for those coins.

Was the question directed at amwldcoin?
If it was to me, I never started that one.
Got hooked on to slabbed beauties starting with the Morgans and now am stuck with acquiring the proofs of the 3CN and the Trade dollar instead. o:)

Barber Dimes and Quarters! I'm also thinking maybe you just have a 1/2 set of the halves looking at the album size....but not sure!

Yeah, was not too keen on those two series. Maybe once i complete the trade dollar proofs from 1873-1877

All my Dansco sets are full and complete barring the 1895 in the Morgans.
Had posted the barber halves earlier on the MFH thread.
