Long Beach Show and Covid Protocol

The show is next week. I clicked on the Covid protocol and it basically said that you needed to have the most recent booster shot within 2 weeks of your entry to the show, or have an antigen test 1 day before you go, or a PCR test 2 days before you go, or you will be denied admission.

I called the show to inquire about this, and got an answering machine. I'd like clarification on this. I'd like to go, but there's no point of going if you aren't going to be admitted.

Looks like I may never again visit the Long Beach show, whatever the show will be fine if I'm there or not

The Covid protocols listed spell this out. I don't want someone flying in here only to turned away at the door.

Crazy! So if I go get tested and if it’s negative I can go? But I go get something to eat and some one walks in that has it passes it out to every one at the restaurant and the next day I go to the show and pass it around to every holder I touch every person I come in contact with but it’s ok because I got tested the day before. Well as long as there are people on this planet we are going to get sick. They should say if your sick stay home so you don’t pass it around this all doesn’t make any sense if you got the shot you can still get it and pass it around. I remember when I would have to go to work and throw up before my boss would say go home your sick because if I called him and said I was sick he would say to come in anyway, Now it’s a vacation if you say I feel sick.

It looks as if attendees will need to have been vaccinated at least 14 days prior to admission to the show - not “within 2 weeks”. See the link below.

Wow I didn't even read that yet or realize it it's just my honest opinion I've been going to the shows in the NY NJ Area for at least 15 years and it seems like the past couple of years everyone's buying everything online and now with covid-19 people never want to go out anymore they just want to live in fear... That's all I'll say about this topic because I know this is going to get political real quick....

  • That’s to bad I was taking a great type set but I can’t get in. I guess the show is doomed.

You either pay to get the test on site, or follow their guidelines and get it done elsewhere. I just went online to get an appt. for the test at a pharmacy and found it more trouble than it's worth for various reasons. So either pay the $49 to get it on site, or don't go.

Numbers let’s not add all numbers in a pot and say this is the number. Why can’t they just give us the break down. There is so much that is missing and the numbers that are being told are all over the board. I work for the government and if you don’t ask the right questions you will get limited answer. Not in till you ask the right questions will you rec the right answer and even then if it’s not to there benefit will they answer you. They will say I don’t have that info as of now but we will get back to you. And that is there way of saying shut up you hear what we told you.

This will be over soon and because of the push back and all the money is gone, some will fell like it was all good it’s over now and others will say we did it because everyone one that listened to us and got vaccinated and we saved the world. I’m sorry this was going to happen one way or another just like a war it’s a win for the time being till the next one but both side will say they won.

I'll be there on Thursday. Last LB show it seems the same or similar protocols were in place. Things could change as well this week as this new strain seems to be waning and hopefully mandates could be lifted very soon. I'm basically going to say hi to some of my favorite dealers and fellow collectors.

Mark, it's different this time, because very few people have had the booster shot within 14 days of your being at the show. Before, if you were double vaxed, they let you in.

If that's the truly the case I won't go. I'm boosted but that was a couple months ago. If you get any clarification do let us know. In case this thread gets axed please PM me. This show or any show ain't that important to me

To me this reads if one is fully vaxxed at least 2 weeks before the show it's fine.

It's NOT within 14 days. It's 14 days or LONGER as it takes time to reach full effect.

I sincerely hope you're right about this. I think you are and will do a mea culpa here and now.

    Before the poof.....

What if you got the one and done JJ. Got that for work and I'll be damned if another one gets shot in me unless I get paid, again, to take it. And then if that's a thing changing careers is most definitely an option.

  • coinbufcoinbuf Posts: 11,253 ✭✭✭✭✭

As I read the rules I don't see anything about a requirement to be boosted, just "fully Vaccinated". Would not that just mean the one and done J&J or the two shot of the others?

    That’s a good question

From just what is posted above you need to be fully vaccinated, but before the boosters that meant one thing. But after the booster it is often asked if you’ve been boosted not simply vaccinated. For me if someone said they are fully vaccinated I’d ask if that definitely meant the booster, too. I’d more expect someone to tell me that have already received the booster over fully vaccinated.

Oh boy sounds like a Long Beach show could soon become the Ghost Beach show... 🤣

  • spacehaydukespacehayduke Posts: 5,715 ✭✭✭✭✭

Boosted or not, this language is vague:

'The full dose as stipulated by the manufacturer'.

Before boosting, that would have meant double pfe, double moderna, and the 1 and done for JNJ. Now that we have a boost, that is likely to mean adding that to each of those. Definitely needs clarification. <100 million in the US have been boosted.

There will be plenty of people there. For someone who proclaims that he doesn't listen to what's said on the internet you seem to being doing just that. You obviously have an ax to grind.

I would like to know what plenty of ppl means on here. I'm sure the attendance won't be crazy packed to the gills high. Just a observation not listening to everything on here my friend..

This thread is based on a misread of the rules. They’re saying you have to get your second shot to be fully vaxxed 2+ weeks before the show. Or just get tested.

See you there if you’re going!

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Protocol is far more relaxed in this area.... No vax checks, mostly no masks required. Cases way, way down.... Cheers, RickO

Not sure it matters but I believe cdc still has full dose for mrna at 2 and j and J at 1. Weird they would be following manufacturer as for certain audiences mrna is up to 4 now if third booster was four months ago or longer.

Wish I was going but no way I can get out of work now. Just an FYI - I had a week of Covid in January. I got it, 4 days later my wife had it, 3 days later my kid had it. We all had the three shots so it wasn't really that bad for us just a pain to deal with. No one at work wanted me to come back in for an additional week so that was actually kinda nice! It is a bit like having the plague though as nobody wants to be near you for a while after you get it. I guess my status is now, fully vaccinated and as Brett Favre called himself when he lied his way onto the vaccinated list, inoculated! Hoping by summer things will be getting back to normal. I can say that I kinda like wearing a mask now outside when it is 5 below zero as happens too often up this way. I sure would like to be walking around in shorts though and admiring the palm trees and looking at coins like the photos in this thread...makes me miss the days when I worked in La Jolla.
