So I watched a movie the other night because I haven't watched one in a while, and now I've become hooked on watching a movie every night, it's become an addiction. I will be continuing this trend all throughout the summer, if you have any good suggestions for moviesI'd love to hear them.

So, I watched No Country For Old Men last night, it was action packed and a great movie until the end, I did not like the ending to this movie, it left me feeling extremely disappointed.
Saw it and it was great but I hated the ending.
Not a movie but I’m binge watching Alfred Hitchcock presents right now, I finished the Twilight Zones this past fall.
Try an episode or two or three Double D, they are pretty good
Great action and drama throughout the movie and then they leave you with that crap ending.
I love both of those shows, Rod Serling and Alfred Hitchcock were very creepy guys, they know how to put on a good show!
No Country for Old Men is an all time favorite of mine. Read the book. It's a masterpiece. Cormac McCarthy is likely the best writer over the last 50 years. I remember 2008 voting for best picture was a struggle for me. There Will be Blood, Juno, Michael Clayton all we're up against No Country for Old Men. Of course NCFOM won. McCarthy won a Pulitzer for The Road.
FYI we have to watch all the nominated movies. For this year The Power of the Dog was one of the most interesting movies I've ever seen. I think this movie can be streamed now. I hated the story, I hated the characters but it was so well written and well acted it left I lasting impression. Good chance at best picture. Licorice Pizza was a very fun period piece. Loved it

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I watched There Will Be Blood a while back, great movie, Daniel Day Lewis was great in that movie, his character's descent into madness was very entertaining!
And he won best actor for it (as usual). He was amazing

Yes, great actor, I rrad somewhere that when he films a movie, he gets so involved in the character he is playing, that even when he is off the set he likes to be addressed by the name of the character he is playing in the movie, so he can stay in the role and become that character.
There is a scene in that movie, No Country For Old Men, that was filmed at a motel in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The Regal Inn. I think someone got killed in that scene (?) The first time I stayed there I was a little kid. I think?. But up until a couple of years ago I used to stay at that place probably 6 times a year. For many, many years. Anyway, I knew the people that ran the place and they always gave me the same room......the room where the movie scene was shot!.....SPOOKY!
I watched As Above So Below the other night because I remember perkdog recommended it one time, and it was a very entertaining movie about a group of people that go down into the France catacombs underneath the streets of Paris looking for an archaeological stone. The catacombs are a real place under the streets of Paris where the french used to bury people, there are remains of six million people down there. It is a complex system of tunnels and passageways over 200 miles long. Anyway, the movie was very entertaining as the group has to descend further and further down into the catacombs and confront their past.
These are photos of the catacombs in France, under the streets of Paris, and you can see all of the bones and skulls down there.
Yes, the motel scenes were very entertaining, nothing good ever happens when someone is hiding out at a motel!
I believe it is illegal to go into the catacombs and people actually sneek into the catacombs and explore down there, a fascinating and creepy place.
Anyway, getting back to the movies, I also watched the remake of Halloween and the sequel Halloween Kills recently, and you can't go wrong with a Michael Myers movie.
I also watched Wrong Turn, about a group of hikers that go hiking on the Appalachian trail, where a lot of hikers have gone missing, and they encounter a society of lunatics that have lived up there for hundreds of years.
When Meat Loaf died recently I watched Fight Club yet again. One of my all time favorites if not favorite. Mr Loaf was very good in it. Bob

Watched this one recently at the recommendation of erikthredd, and just like the cover says, it was action packed from start to finish, with an ending that was surprising.
Believe it or not, I haven't seen Fight Club yet, I'll have to check it out.
We Own the Night was a good movie, of course I am a big Joaquin Phoenix fan so I am a bit biased.
Watched this one recently as well, good slasher movie.
Shut up!
Go watch it now. Stat

I'm sorry, I'll have to schedule an appointment, I'm watching The Texas Chainsaw Massacre tonight. We'll squeeze Fight Club in for early next week.
K, as an artist I like art movies about artists. My recos if interested for that genre, there's Oscar winners in this batch...
Surviving Picasso
Pollock
Basquiat
Frida
I Shot Andy Warhol
Loving Vincent
At Eternety's Gate
The Doors
The Girl With The Pearl Earing
3:10 to Yuma.
And be sure to read and then give it to someone who needs it(75% of the human race),
Endurance, by Alfred Lansing. The story of Shackleton's attempt in 1916 to reach the south pole. DO NOT WATCH THE DOCUMENTARY ON YOUTUBE. Read the book. $3-5 on ebay --used. It is on Kindle, free. Book is better.
I have only seen little snippits of fight club on TV. Just seemed too dumb to keep watching,
idiots beating each other up for no reason.
DoubleD, you could go back and try to find the last movie thread, don't recall the title but it was several
months ago and you mentioned the movie 'moonfall' which I believe is out now but isn't doing very well
at the box office. That's one I want to see.
I think I mentioned in that thread the movie with Chris Pine and Jeff Bridges. Pine and his brother rob
banks and Bridges and his partner are TX rangers hot on their trail. Really good movie.
3:10 to Yuma- original or remake?
Seen them both, believe the original was Glenn Ford as the bad guy and Van Heflin (Shane) as the
poor rancher who needs the money so takes on the task of escorting Ford to prison.
Van Heflin, probably one of the most underrated actors of all time.
My wife and I watch movies at home for entertainment. If home entertainment is your thing I highly recommend LG OLED G class televisions. Top of the line in picture quality matched with a Bose surround system and 4K Ultra HD Sony Blue ray. We have over 400 DVD’s, Blue Rays on top of HBO Max, Netflix and other movie options. There probably isn’t a movie that you could mention we haven’t seen. Our favorites change regularly.
Latest: Robin Hood with Russell Crowe
Lord of the rings all 3 extended versions.
Wife loves Pride and Prejudice and all the Twilight movies.
Snow White and the Huntsman, Huntsman-Winter War.
You name it, it’s probably been or is a favorite
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
I saw this movie on tv a while back, pretty entertaining.
This is a good movie...
curious to know who has seen this flick
it's been years since i have, and it's about that time again
it's brilliant. out of curiosity i looked up the reviews on rotten tomatoes and metacritic -- 97% and 94%, respectively
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
@galaxy27 I collect wine. Sideways made Pinot Noir the "it" wine after is was released. The same thing happened with Japanese whiskey ( Suntory) after Lost in Translation was launched. Bottles that were $40 before the movie were $120 two weeks later. The same whiskey now ( because it's great and the nuclear meltdown ) is $199 to $1999 depending on the age. The power of the movie is strong.

There is a reason and fighting has little to do with the crux/ premise of the movie. I've seen it 100X and I still glean something new everytime I see it. It's David Finchers best work.
You're doing yourself a disservice by only watching snippets. Its like judging a book by its cover. Fight Club is a very complex movie as well as brilliant character development. The ending is as good as a movie gets with the Pixies " Where is my Mind" belting in the background. Haunting. Unforgettable. Its very cerebral which is probably why I've needed to see it multiple times. But to each is own.

I found Fight Club disappointing. The big twist invalidates the whole movie.
Some of my favorites:
Dead Poet's Society
Miracle
Her
Up
White Men Can't Jump
Mystery, Alaska
Angus
Disclosure
Falling Down
Not so fast amigo. The Narrator's and Tyler Durden's "relationship" made the big twist make perfect sense and and validated the movie or in this case inside the head of The Narrator. But, you like what you like. No one always agrees. There is a movie on your list I detest. Another I adore
Audience Rotten Tomato rating was a 96. Those are my people ; )

Look forward to discussing this thread further

It has been great so far, lots of stuff going on!
You are going to love 1883 the Yellowstone Prequel. Somewhat raw at times. Sam Sheppard is pretty pretty pretty good. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw do a nice job as well. She's a good actor

I was not aware that the two were connected.
Yep. Another Taylor Sheridan project. It's the journey of the Dutton family from Tennesee to Texas to Montana. We are caught up and they are still in Texas. We love it

Ahh ok so the show is about the pre Yellowstone days? I’m looking forward to the rest of this series, we try to get in 4-6 episodes a week. Ozark is next on our list but we might need to put that on ice and do 1883
