Hello, my name is Joe, I’m a Lincoholic and I just made a purchase from the Coin Vault…

I’m a Lincoholic, my Father was a Lincoholic, and both my brothers are...
I have every Lincoln cent (minus errors such the 22 plain/no-D and 1955) from 1909 to 2009. I stopped at the 2009 because I was/am not a big fan of the shield design. Therefore I would collect no further.
Well, 12 years have passed and I was thinking, maybe I'll just expand my collection and hunt for Lincoln Shield cents..
Then, by chance I saw on the Coin Vault TV program an offer for a Dansco album with Lincoln Shield Cent from 2010-2021 including the S profits. After trying to restrain for a few hours, I'll admit, I purchased it for $79.95...
I figured that the Dansco album is worth $20/$25 and the pain trying to come up with the S proofs (on eBay) maybe worth it...
I’m a Lincoholic and I made a purchased from the Coin Vault,,, Please don't judge me harshly!!!

Nice to have a complete set. Great job. I have done similar with Roosies and am now working on clad. I can't find the last dansco page for the album thou.

I hear you.
Finished my Lincoln pennies Dansco set and have it all sans the 1955 DDO/DDR. A very nice sample of that was at my LCS, but it was priced way out of my budget and hence decided to not bother about it for now.
Meanwhile on a whim, added a few blank pages to the album and decided to add the Shield ones too. It has been a fun time looking through the best examples of pocket change to fill it and also have the uncirculated mint sets in case I have to break out any better quality coins.
Have fun with the addictive hobby
Cheers.

I too make the occasional purchase and I’m very happy with what I’ve bought. Some of their lost leaders are good deals. Ok , I’m done 😉
Oh yah. Great deal, I saw that and thought it was a good price. Danscos are pricey and with the proofs, nice 👍🏼
🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶
I read somewhere a false report that 2022 or 2023 would be the last year of the Lincoln cent. I wonder how much longer they will be made?
Until Congress sez stop 🛑🤨

Good for you. I personally would not support them because of their rip offs.
Sometimes you gotta give in to temptation.

Ya if they can change the quarters every month why not the other donations? Sure would be nice to see some old coin designs on modern coins. Wow that would be cool, proof and MS I would go crazy I think I would be broke but wealthy. 😳🤯😱
Hoard the keys.
Oh and great job and welcome to the board.
Hoard the keys.
Not sure what help you can get for your Lincoholism. For Jeffersonoholics, there is a five (full) step program.
Talent (or lack thereof) at the Mint and rules and design criteria that prevent it from being used are very different things.
I saw the full Ike dollar set with silver S proofs and every year included - it was only ~250 dollars or so which seems like a good deal to me I almost bought it, I will note none of the coins were graded but they looked uncirculated, at least the S mint coins did. Maybe the clads were circulated it was hard to tell.
I might have bought it but I’m a bit over my coin budget this month ...
But normally on the show it is all high priced ASEs and other bullion crap I was surprised they had these Ike’s in book sets - me likey
@Joe_360

Do you have all 20 of the 2009 Lincoln's? I think the 2009 Satin's are still yet sleeper coins. (I really like that page of my albums)
Did you get the 2019 West Point set yet?
I can't find an end to completing my Lincoln set, I mean the Large date/Small date proofs.
The filled "S"/ Open "S" proofs then the type 1 & type 2.
I've ran into a bit of a wall at getting the proofs beyond 37 (I'm complete back to 1940) I can swing 39 & 38 beyond that the price is just a bit more than I can bare! In total right now I've got 79 proofs from 1940 thru 2021.
In total my semi complete collection has 354 Lincoln's in it currently.
Lately I've make it a goal in trying to upgrade everything to VF or better
Sounds like you've got a pretty nice Lincoln collection

Hi Mark (and all for your replies!!)
Great replies! Thanks
I know where you can fill that lonely 1955 hole in your collection.

Yes, I agree... I tried the hard stuff (Morgan CC Dollars) but found myself back on the streets searching for Lincolns...
It's a cruel world for us coin collectors...
80$ doesn't sound bad - beats the heck out of chasing them all down yourself. As long as they are in nice condition and not "seconds" it should be a nice album to acquire. Do you have the album in hand or waiting for it to be shipped?
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
The sale is in/accepted, waiting for shipped - I hope that they don't bait and switch... I'll keep you posted!
Say it ain't so Joe!
Wow! I’m amazed you have the space for those hundreds of millions (or billions) of coins. Talk about cornering the market, lol.

If you're a Lincoholic you need to get to at least one meeting a day of other Lincoholics, especially 90 meetings in the first 90 days, I wish you a good recovery!
Okay, it looks like a complete set of Lincoln's minus the 55DDO (that I have) not counting the 22 No D.
Including all the proofs,
No error coins,
and the date range to 2021.
Looks to be 365 coins.

@Joe_360 Any idea if they have a Roosie 2010 to 2021 with proofs available?

Martin.
I don't know where or how this guy got these US-Mint bags.
But he claimed to have $270,000.00 in pennies! (he was sorting out the coppers and selling them on ebay)
He even had an armor car delivering them to his warehouse.
I'm not sure how we turned just over 300 Lincoln cents into millions of them. Sometimes if I think about it I am amazed of how $3.54 in face value Lincoln cents has a current market value of nearly $4,000 dollars.

Does the Dansco include the 2017-S enhanced uncirculated, the 2018-S reverse proof and the three 2019-W Lincolns?
My Adolph A. Weinman signature

The Dansco album includes 36 coins, P, D and S Proof for the 12 years, no specialty coins
@Joe_360.... Glad you got the set.... We fill our collecting needs in various ways.... Actually, most of us purchase coins at one point or another.... so not so different - one or several. Enjoy your set... Cheers, RickO
That is some collection of coins all on its own.
I too would like to know how they get the mint bags delivered.

Great choice in the fantastic
Lincoln Cent mania!
Love them myself. I personally, enjoy all the possibilities of varieties. Did you ever contemplate going through a whole bank box of cents ($25)? You'll be very surprised
what you may find. There are even some great conditioned Lincolns in some boxes. I'm talking copper wheats too!
Glad you are addicted. These kind of addictions are healthy for the value aspects and healthy for the part of the brain where FUN is contained. Lol

Oh, I'm Joe too.
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. Those bags were shown in a extreme penny hoarding video from several years ago, the pennies I took to come out of circulation because he sorts out the copper ones. I don't know if the guy got the coin bags (empty) from the mint as older end of life bags, or maybe he rented them, or just purchased them?
In the video at the time the guy stated he had $270,000 at face value, he said there was 3 times that in copper price. He was selling $100 worth for $176.00 (not clear about the shipping)

@joeykoins, you asked, id you ever contemplate going through a whole bank box of cents ($25)?
You should know that answer my friend... Yes, several times and have found many nice pieces!!! I keep all copper coins found. Just hard to get a full box these days... So get $12 to $20 at a time...
Happy Hunting, Joe
The Morgans were fun to collect and almost ended up on the streets because of overspending.
But I had started off trying to get the Dansco filled and then realized the slabbed ones were better but way more expensive. Project of upgrading them was then put on the backburner and will probably stay there forever.
Lincoln pennies are way more affordable and the satisfaction felt while completing the set felt really wonderful and like no other, probably because most of it was collected from pocket change the old fashioned way and also took a frustrating long time to acquire the missing ones over the past four decades. But it indeed was total bang for the buck honestly.

Lincoholic's got me seeing Double
I personally don’t understand buying compete sets of low value coins. The fun is in the hunt and selection of the coins. Something like a state quarter set is never going to be worth anything, but it can be enjoyable to piece it together.
@nags Hi, I totally agree with you on State quarters, and I have built several sets from bank rolls, change, and such. I have done the same for many Lincoln's..
But the reason I purchased this set is three fold, one it has the S proofs and well you won't get those in change.. Two, I live in CA and we hardly get P cents and to find quality P cents would take forever... Three the Dansco album was nice..
Thanks for your reply, Joe
@Fayecar
In 2009 the mints issued quarterly Lincoln cents, it was to commemorate the life of Abe Lincoln & 100 years of the Lincoln cent.
From early childhood through his professional years, to presidency.
So, both the Philly & Denver mints issued the series for normal circulation.
That makes 8 different 09's.
Well the San Francisco mint issued the 4 coin series in Proof's that's 4 more
Then both the Philly & the Denver mint released the 4 coin sets in their mint sets as "Copper Satin's"
That's 8 more, making 20 in total!
And those Copper Satin's are LOW mintage coins, 784,614 each.
Not a great image, but it gives you an idea of this same year 20 coin page.

When I got into the hobby, I assembled a set of Proof Lincoln Memorials, 1959 to 2008, including the Large/Small Date 1960 issues. I sold the collection before going to college and in the last two years have endeavored to rebuild the set. This time around, I have the 1937, 1941 through 2007 including Large/Small Dates, Type 1/Type 2 issues, 2009 through 2016, 2018 and 2018 Reverse Proof, and 2019 through 2021. I'm in the hunt for the issues of 1936, 1938-1940, 1960 Large over Small, 1960 Small over Large, 1990 no S, 2008-S, 2017-S, and the 2019-W coins. Also, I'm pursuing these raw. The Matte Proofs will be nice to have some day.

Hello Joe. My name is Chris and I’m a Lincoholic too. I try to fend off the urges by looking at other denominations such as nickels and quarters. I’ve even tried buying gold coins but still the urge is just too strong. It’s nice to know there are others here to share my problems with, you know with the same kind of problem.
I'm becoming one to.
