If I had only known then what I know now, I would have bought more rolls of quarters. There used to be a lot more silver in those rolls and at least they were face value. Sure it would have been great to buy silver or gold, but I didn't have any money for that type of stuff.

Loaded up on cheap 14D Lincolns.

It's a fun mental exercise, but let's look....
So you grab rolls heavy in silver in what...70s...80s from circulation? So today those would be worth 17-20x face ($170-200).
Dow index was 800-900 around then, and 34,000 today.
A 7% rate of return on $10 in 45 years is about $210.
So from purely financial view, holding silver would not have been a good value. Probably would have been much smarter in hindsight to sell at the 80s peak, then invest.
For enjoyment...sure
Bought many of the high grade key date coins that cost 1000 times more now.

I would have pulled all the silver I could find from general circulation.
If I could have put a $1,000 together back then, I would have bought a bag of Morgans directly from the bank.
It is fun to dream. LOL

Kennedys are my quest...
Loaded up on rhodium when it was $300 a oz. 😔
Hoard the keys.

Excellent advice.
I knew it would happen.
I believe I once saw an ad offering 10,000 bitcoin for 50 bucks. Enough said, I guess.
I'm the type that usually opens the door, when opportunity knocks, so not too many regrets here.
The only thing I should have done was buy more generic gold Saints and Eagle bullion ounces, when gold was $280 an ounce, back in 2000-2001.

Bought more gold coins in 2001 to 2005 when I had the money and when gold was <$500 an ounce.
Strictly numismatically speaking I would “buy the keys first.”
There’s certainly a litany of examples where I would have kept my mouth shut in conversations/fights with the wife.
Looking back:
1969- Pull all silver from circ I could. Load up on USGTC especially DE. 1990 would have loaded up on world gold and AGE close to melt plus quality large size US PM - FRN, NBN, Type. Also quality Mexico 19th & early 20th century. Especially Gold 50 Peso, Caballito Peso. Realize whatever promoted fad they are all chasing likely going down, crash.
Execute good strategy, common sense investment - Buy low sell high. 95 pct collectors lose money. Look for auc pickoffs.
Something about hindsight and 20/20 vision. If you ponder on all the missed opportunities you'll do nothing but kick your own backside.
Collector, occasional seller
I'm sure we are missing opportunities right now

I am extremely happy were I am at now.
With Hindsight, I could be a billionaire, but would I be happy?
I would have loaded up on 1804 Quarter Dollars in MS64 at $650 and now worth $210k. Several more coins of that calibur. But most of your key coins since 1969 would only have increased in value by 10-20 times. Silver is a little harder to calculate due to inflation and dollar values. I sold $2300 in silver coins in 1980 at 35 times face. Split with my Dad and a partner and still paid for a car and a piece of property.

Put it in stocks.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
This is the right question. In retrospect there are probably always opportunities to be had. What are those happening RIGHT NOW??
Buying great early copper when it was cheap. When was that?

I would have bought Amazon stock at $3 a share…..then I could buy any coins today! Well, almost any!
