Have you ever bought a used coin album or supplies and got more than you expected?
A few years ago I bought at auction a part filled type set in either a blue Whitman with slides or Dansco. A while later I pulled out a slide to put a coin in and a very nice small coin pops out hidden behind a page. I do not remember if it was a 3 cent silver or half dime, but do remember it was worth more than I paid for the album and few assorted included coins.
Just a couple days ago I was looking in a half box of used coin tubes and picked one up that had 7 - 1958 quarters jammed in there. Nothing that a few taps on the counter could not clear out. I am a bottom feeder, so this tube was also worth more than I paid for the box of used tubes.
What have you bought that also brought a pleasant surprise?

I got a dime book that everything looked normal but they put all their duplicates in the holes, there was 2 of everything.
One time I bought a bunch of used albums and supplies. Guy was a real pain in the arse to deal with on multiple prior occasions. I really didnt want them becuase they dont sell , but he begged me to buy the used supply deal, so i did just to get em out of the store. Low and behold, I ended up finding a real nice xf/au 1892-o Barber quarter that had slid down in the binder of the dansco album
Bought a used IHC album at LCS, had 2 IHC in the extra slots... Total value about $1.50. 😉
I bought a box of 48 used blue Whitman folders at a flea market. A deal was struck for a quarter each (!) and the box was mine for $12. When I unpacked them at home the very bottom one had 12 silver Roose dimes in it.
I bought a banana box of used folders at an auction. I remember it wasn't a lot of money. I found about 10 dollars face in 90 while going through the albums.
I used the ratty ones to start a campfire. They really look wild while burning......
I got a partial set of Barber quarters once, in a used Whitman album.
At home I found 3 or 4 quarters that had slid into the back. At least one was a better date, but no '01 S, of course.
Another time I picked up a Canadian coin book. At home I found an old piece of Canadian fractional currency.
Paid a dollar for the book, sold the bill for $10 or $20 I forget how much.

Back in the early 1990s when I was in college, I went to a local coin auction and bought four partial sets of Lincolns in Whitman folders. In one of the books, in the hole for the 1922 No D, was a genuine Die Pair #2 example in Good. I bought the lot for around $25, sent the '22 to ANACS where it graded Good-4, then flipped it to a local dealer for money to buy an interview suit.

No special finds in albums, but years ago, bought a Chevy used car, found two quarters '53 and '57 under the back seat.

Bad transactions with : nobody to date
I found a Barber dime in a used Whitman album. It had slipped out of its space and was under the paper covering. Unfortunately, it was just a low grade common date.
Great stories.
I did buy a metal coin storage box with 2x2 Lincolns, but all were common coins.
Still have that storage box.

Kennedys are my quest...
As a kid in the mid 1960s, I bought a 39-cent Whitman folder for walking lib. halves. Several weeks or months later ... forgot the exact time ... I turned the paper covering over and found two walkers from the 1930s.

Not a coin but a pretty awesome find. Years ago I bought a single 1950s Eisenhower FDC for $1-$1.50 and sealed inside was his famous D-Day letter given to the soldiers that stormed the beaches of Normandy during WWII. Even though the letters are printed (not hand signed) they still bring $300-$600 each on eBay as a historic WWII collectible. I think I got around $360 for the one I found (had folds and wrinkles so didn’t bring top dollar but still great for something I paid $1 for).
A few months ago, I was at an estate auction that had a broken piggy bank. The small pile of coins were clearly visible. I ended up with high bid of 35.00. I had guess-timated it had close to $50.00 of coinage in it. After I got it home and looking through it, it had 42 silver dimes mixed in with the rest of the change.

Yeah, that might have been my wife. She says way before we were married, she lost a '53 and '57 quarter from her penny loafers when she was out on a date with her grabby boyfriend.
Bought a used standing liberty quarter folder for a quarter and when I got out of the store i saw there were 9 circ
quarters in the third page of the folder.
