Can we expect to see a Moose on a U.S. Mint Coin?

Question came to mind as this ungulate stepped in front of my vehicle yesterday on my drive to work:

Thanks for locating that. Obviously not from the State Quarters series, what is its backstory?
Assuming it is a U.S. Mint product, what is the date and did the United States strike first (i.e. before 2012 when Canada came out with its moose coin?)
Well de Francisci did it first on the Maine commem. Without question, sooner or later we’ll see another. At the rate the mint is going, we’re likely to see every creature, invention, place, and person in the US within 5-10 years.
Actually I’m quite fond of moose. We had one in the back yard a few years ago. We couldn’t figure out why the dog was so wound up. They’re immensely cool, and, if you’d care to know, quite delicious.

The moose is loose.... And I agree with @BryceM, moose meat is delicious... IMO the best tasting meat. Cheers, RickO
It is a classic commemorative from 1920
My sister had 2 young ones in her yard last week (Spokane, WA).
Gentlemen, while moose is tasty, give me a back strap from an elk. Found elk to be the least gamey tasting. Tender and lean. So much so that the local butcher’s always include 10% fatty beef when grinding burgers , helps with cooking 🥘

Yikes! She should probably have delivered in a hospital, especially twins.

Speaking of moose coinage, is this a real thing? I like it!

Right or wrong, I think of Canada as having a strong claim to all things moose.
I've always liked that Maine commem, btw.

Kind of hard to see the moose... so i enhanced the image a bit,.. You may have to zoom in to see it clearly

Pre 9-11 my wife and I were driving out of Quebec crossing into Maine on a scenic secondary road when we came upon a rather large caution sign with flashing lights that said "Brake For Moose - Save Your Life". Sage advice given Bullwinkles stature. Peace Roy

Yeah, if you hit one of those with your car, you're just taking its knees out so that 1000 pounds of moose comes through your windshield. You'll be in no shape to claim that moose, either, assuming it doesn't just get up and walk away. And while Maine is in the US, I can't resist saying, "In Soviet Russia, moose claims you!"

Moose are a real problem in Alaska. Even on the multi-lane highway from Anchorage to Palmer, there's a collision between a moose and an auto almost daily. They let you know they were there first. And if you're smart, you get out of the way.

Mooses are cool. This one is even silvery like a coin!
Well done!
