I looked to see if anyone else had posted one of these yet and didn't see another thread.

We stopped at Bucee's on the way back to Austin from the Houston Money Show, and I noticed a bunch of bright new quarters in the drawer when I was being given change. It wasn't until we were back to the car that I noticed the quarter I was given was one of the new Laura Gardin Fraser/Maya Angelou designs for 2022. The obverse design looks fantastic. I had a hell of a time photographing it, as the surfaces were PL and there were a lot of marks and dings, and the design has a lot of different angles. I do think there are some quality issues, which is a shame for such a nice design, but I suspect it will look fantastic as a cameo proof or with a more satiny finish. Here are some photos. I decided not to spend any more time photographing it after fighting with it for an hour.

I have not yet seen a 2022 coin... Of any denomination. I have been watching for a new quarter with the right facing Washington.... Judging from the posted picture - it looks strange. Cheers, RickO

I'd like to see a photo of the original Laura Garden Fraser design with the 2022 quarter version pictured next to it.

I haven't received any 2022 coins in change yet.

I am still looking for 2021 coins from general circulation. :D
I have found one quarter (actually my wife did).
    Oh well.

No 2022 , no W quarters. I find it a little unusual because we’re a resort area and skiing has been open for awhile and mtn biking was open last summer/fall.
I think Washington looks angry 😠
Oh well, I do like the change.👍🏼

@cmerlo1 - How was the Houston show? Any good pickups? How was the activity level?

I like the obverse with Washington facing to the right. It would really be nice if it had the reverse of Washington Crossing the Delaware as is on the 2021 quarters.

Interesting. Mine appears to have a different finish than the ones in the video. I'm thinking I got an early one off a set of fresh dies, as mine has a PL appearance versus the cartwheel I'm seeing in the video.

It was so busy at the ANACS table, I wasn't able to get away to do much shopping (or go to the restroom, eat, etc.). Every dealer I talked to said it was a fantastic show. Friday traffic was more than what I saw on Saturday before I left.

I did go in early each morning and was able to do some shopping. I picked up another unc 1941-S Large S Jefferson nickel, this one having the RPM and listed in the CPG as FS-101. I also got some nice mint errors cheap (broadstruck Zincolns and dimes) but they'll do well on eBay when I get them back from ANACS. See my post on the counterstamped large cent for my other purchase.

Am I the only one that had to google Maya Angelou to find out who she was? :/

She was a well known poet. I believe she presented one at a presidential inauguration.

Love the new Washington design (would love to have seen it in silver as it was intended) and I think the reverse looks stellar.

Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

Shame it took 90 years for Laura Gardin Fraser to get her due in regards to the Washington quarter. Her design was clearly superior to the hack that won the contest.

It was probably just the dentures.

No, when these were announced, and I saw the first five I had to google three of the five.
