F the Pandemic!

For the right coins, you can still fill an auction room! Tonight, at the StacksBowers sale of the Pat Johnson collection. Some wild prices, some really good values, and a lot of fun!

That’s a bit of a stretch, especially in such a small room, don’t you think? But I totally agree with the title of the thread! @MrEureka keep your social distances , some of us still need you alive! 😇

I actually think this is about right price wise for the coin was glad I did not end up winning the one at over 14k.

It wasn't me. I saw Dan drop out at 210K when he realized he was on the wrong lot.

Apparently he won lot 2076 at a bargain price!

That bald guy looks like me from the back !?

Patterns seem rather hot now so I will show this one...

Silver proof pattern for Popayan, Colombia, 8 reales, 1849, plain edge, medal axis, rare, NGC PF 64, finest known in NGC census. Restrepo-unl (cf. 64, p. 172); KM-Pn21. 21.01 grams; 34mm. Sharp strike, beautifully toned over strong luster with minimal marks, numerically superior to the Eldorado examples in PCGS SP62 that hammered for as much as $9500 in 2018. Restrepo calls this type lettered edge (and only Bogota) in error, as all examples we have seen (from both mints) are plain edge. NGC #5931969-014. Pedigreed to the Nueva Granada collection (stated on label).

    Beautiful coin! Congratulations.

One sold a few moments ago for 6600$ at HA. So I would say the 1732 4 reales is a 6500$ to 8500$ coin in authentic depending on the day.

I think that is because of the discount the market assigned due to the consignor
