Hi everyone, I'm new here but I would really appreciate some advice on a coin I found in an old button box. I have checked and it's gold but I cannot decipher the date. Does it have any value?

It's not a US coin; more like a piece of jewelry.
The letters within the wreath look a little non-Roman, which makes them hard to search for on google!Back in the 1860s and 1870s there were several bronze "Civil War Tokens" that were privately made which
had a similar resemblance to the Indian Head Cent of the time.

So your item might be from that period as well.0 -

Thanks again.
I don't think it's a coin. It appears to be a charm for use in jewelry so it's likely gold plated brass.

I'd be surprised if it is solid gold. It looks like cheap jewelry from long ago.
@Ecguttridge ... Welcome aboard. Have a jeweler check to see if it is plated or solid gold.... It does look like a piece for a charm bracelet. Cheers, RickO
Welcome aboard
Love that fat nose.
Let us know if it is real gold.
