Will the American Woman Quarters Series attract any interest?

I actually like them, with the classic Washington portrait on the obverse, the the date on the obverse and "quarter dollar" on the reverse where they should be. I always thought having the words "quarter dollar" under Washington's bust looked stupid.

??? Well 3 rolls of quarters for $54. I guess I don't feel like a sucker especially if they catch on and the S mint has a mintage around 300,000.

The 'D' mint bag is now 'remind me' as well. I wish I could get another 3 roll set.

They lost my attention over 50 years ago when the mint started stamping game room tokens for dollars. I guess with the debt we have, the mint couldn't afford to hire sculptors to design our coinage, so they let someones brother-in-law do it or their kids, whichever one was sober enough.

Interesting that the rolls sold out that quick and I decided to just buy 1 set. I also wonder if the mint will release the s into circulation or will buying the ones in the rolls be the only way to get them..... I was just reading back the last page and realize you can sign up for the enrollment and you get FREE shipping and can cancel anytime. I did my order this morning of three rolls and used paypal but after seeing that i just went and signed up and will see if they send me another 3 rolls. Free shipping is good.... Enjoy

I hope that this series brings in a lot of women into the hobby. (I know they are out there.)

As for the designs, I am underwhelmed. Most of them so far look like cartoon characters, They sort of reminded me of why I liked some Liberty coins and not others. The agenda behind the artwork is too obvious in some cases, and rushed, as were many of the 50 states quarters that look like they were designed by a committee. We will have the next 5 years to make up our minds about their collectability. Sometimes a coin ends up a sleeper until 10 years later when its relative scarcity makes it popular. (eg. Jackie Robinson, and some of the Olympic coins).

I do indeed like the new obverse, because it has an interesting back story, AND it was designed by a woman.

Also as an aside note my favorite recent quarter series was the "America the Beautiful" series of quarters that depicted real places. not people. People are much harder subjects to depict.

I suppose that the best place to find Anna May Wong's films is the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) cable channel.

They have shown "Daughter of the Dragon" and "Shanghai Express".

I've put away two rolls of each mint since the State quarters started. I've even
picked up earlier years now and then. I will collect the new ones as well. Yes,
I know I need help, but my money to pay for professional help is tied up in
    the quarter rolls.

Not today. I ran the enrollment route and it doesn’t price this item out just 00000. I shall watch and see if it changes. This looks like the standard enrollment for future releases but maybe not. Plenty of time before the next release and that’s Dr. Sally Ride. My choice of the most popular due to her unfortunate place in history.

I had convinced myself that I was done ordering the S quarter rolls because the mint, in it's infinite wisdom, decided to bundle these with the P and D. Because of the quick sell out of these, I'm now going to seek the three roll set. I've become a slave to the mint. Now I've signed up for the enrollment of these. I think I need to seek professional help.

I started collecting the AI dollars also, but because of the interest in them, a couple selling out before I got around to ordering them with all of last years offerings, sadly I quit. I have these covered with an enrollment.

I agree and feel your pain. I was good with the Washington Crossing the Delaware until the 250th anniversary commemorative in 2026 and back to that after, but there are already youth sports coming 2027-2030.

    This is normal

“Shipped” in this case means fully processed.

No charge is to be expected because no physical item is in the mail to you

The next item in the enrollment will generate a new, real order with real charges.

After this series is over in four years, rest assured a new quarter series will be launched: Capitals of the USA. or maybe American Sports. or maybe Vice Presidents through US history. or perhaps Game Show Hosts...Junk Foods of America?...American Men Series ?? Famous Kids of our times... Leaf Types of North America?.....State Animals?....Flowers?..Bugs?? Road Signs? -Get your kicks on 66! Who knows what the next theme will be...

    Little to no interest.
    Certainly none from me.
I’m guessing most, if not all, of the designs are going to be crap. The ones that are already released are terrible.

In keeping with the last few years, the Mint could have issued 5 different designs in each year.
They could have also had a different theme for each year.
Such as, Women of Science & Space, Literature, History, Women's Movement, & Entertainment.

Science & Space - Madam Curie, Rosalind Franklin, Katherine Johnson, Sallie Ride
Literature - Pearl S. Buck, Harper Lee, Anne Frank, Margaret Mitchell,
History - Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Madam C.J. Walker, Shirley Chisholm
Women's & Equality Movement - Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman
Entertainment - Katherine Hepburn, Lucille Ball

Just a reminder, the women on the coin would have to be deceased. As I would have added Sandra Day O'Connor as a History design, but she's still alive.

Too bad the coins are already in the works.

I agree. I think we would get more interesting and familiar women if we did themes.

I would absolutely LOVE a Ruth Bader Ginsburg quarter. Rosa Parks, Harper Lee and Katharine Hepburn would be fun too. I like all the ideas you mentioned above.

As for the having to be deceased thing, exceptions have been made. I recall there being a Nancy Reagan coin issued while she was still alive (although she did die shortly after). They also made that exception with Calvin Coolidge when he was still alive for a commemorative half dollar and others as well in the half dollar series. I recently discovered that living individuals can technically be put on postage stamps, but it is not typically done. One example I can think of off the top of my head were the Harry Potter stamps. I know typically they do tend to avoid featuring living people as you could see on the Celebrate the Century stamps where they commemorated Lucille Ball and Desi Anraz on their I Love Lucy stamp but when they did the Seinfeld stamp it did NOT feature any people from the show on it since presumably they are alive, whereas Lucy and Desi were both deceased.

I think I would have got an order in just fine if the browser wasn't doing a check everytime I clicked on something. I changed the quantity in my cart from 1 to 3 and probably had an extra 5 browser checks doing so. That adds up to a lot of seconds. I for sure would have got the one in my cart ordered had I just finished the checkout process. Guess I am ready for tomorrow...

The Mint should be issuing an unchanged standard design alongside whatever series they are promoting. The Sacagawea Dollar continued to be produced alongside the Presidential Dollars and at least for the first two years the design remained the same. And I said before they should continue with the W mintmark quarters, maybe even do a secret CC mintage on the old press.

Screen refreshing is not like it used to be. I have tried three different browsers and they all get to a point of checking your browser and having you click to confirm you want to refresh a page.
