We cancelled due to health reasons. PCGS is not bringing their graders. And heritage rescheduled their auction.
I just cancelled my plans. Had a lot of signs but the final straw was one of the docs that work for me has a very sick father with Covid and has to leave to help his mom. Looks like I get to run his schedule this week now.
hopefully be back at FUN next year
Stephen Album Rare Coins will be attending the FUN show.
I received this email today:
We will be attending the 67th Annual FUN Convention in Orlando, Florida this week (January 6-9, 2022).
Our booth number is 451.
After waiting a bit, I was still leaning towards going until today. My daughter and her family just moved to Lakeland, which was one of the reasons we were going to FL, besides FUN. That all changed with a phone call from her today, she just tested positive for Covid. Fortunately her symptoms are mild, like a cold - she and her husband have had boosters too. However, she has a 7 year old who has been vaxxed and a two year old who is an open target.
With all that going on, I figured it wasn't worth going this time - there will be other shows and other chances to visit. We will have to swallow a night of hotel since it's within 72 hours for cancellation but we figure that's how they rolled, spikes be damned. Fortunately Southwest flights are very easy to deal with and change, so no biggie on that.
To those that are still going, be safe and please post some show reports if possible.

Registry cocktail hour? So they’re still going?
Does one have to be invited to this or does one qualify if he has a set in the Registry ?
NGC has been doing this "registry cocktail hour" for a few years now. It's by invitation. I'm not sure how NGC decides who to invite.
I always ask about guests and am allowed to bring one or two. NGC hands out a slabbed coin to each attendee as well as raffle tickets for drawings. There's small talk, drinks and hors d'oeuvres . A few speakers address the group on different topics, not usually registry-related.
Anyway, it's nixed now.
FWIW, in the cancellation email NGC promised to mail all invitees the slabbed coins they would have handed out. Nice gesture.

NGC and PMG have replaced their planned on-site grading at the FUN Show in Orlando this week with an expedited grading special, which will provide fast turnaround times by transporting collectibles between the show and the companies’ headquarters in Sarasota, Florida. Submissions made for this expedited grading special before 3 p.m. on Thursday will be returned to the show by 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Regular submissions can also be made at the NGC and PMG booths through 11 a.m. Sunday.
NGC and PMG regret that the consultations with NGC Chairman Mark Salzberg and PMG Grading Finalizer Chad Hawk, as well as the event with Silver Eagle engraver Michael Gaudioso have been cancelled.
Interesting how all these people are getting sick from Covid. After we have had widespread vaccinations. Hmmm..... Connect the dots folks. Having said that pretty much nobody dies from this Omicron variant. They have done a very good job of making people scared of their own shadows and then convincing them to take a "vaccine" that makes things worse. Death rates are up in 2021 over 2020 after we started vaxxing people. Hmmm.... Oh and did anyone ever hear of the flu? Or a cold? Wake up!!!
Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Death rates are not up. Case numbers are up which is why deaths are up.
The vaccine has limited effectiveness for preventing infection but is very effective (like the flu vaccine - heard of it?) in limiting the severity of the illness. The death rate among the unvaxxed is significantly higher than the vaccinated.
It is one thing to point out (accurately) that the vaccine is not 100% effective and will not end the pandemic on its own. It is quite another to suggest that the vaccine is making things worse.

Somehow, I think putting in a Covid medal in these makes a lot of sense!

The whole thing sounds like a toxic superspreader. Certainly floor traffic overall will be waaaaY down.
It does, but some people are more than okay with superspreader events, while others are less so.
