But then you have to buy the label separate and you don't even get the fake coin with it.
There was one of these posted the other day that you could get a 16 D in AU-58 for $19.95
This does not look good.... I guess if one had a damaged slab, one could replace it with one of these, just transfer the label... and glue it together. There I go... looking for an honest use of this product.... Actually, I would say the potential for abuse is far greater. Cheers, RickO
I am in shock here.
My fear here is all of the raw counterfeit coins we report on eBay and have had taken down i.e.. 09SVDBs
can and probably will end up in fake PCGS holders.
I hope PCGS is able to act fast and prevent these slabs from progressing any further.

They will. You can be sure of it. The only defense will be to buy samples of all of it and try to find tells.
Honestly, I'm on the fence about whether or not this thread was even a good idea.
My last thread on this didn’t get very far. People asked me to take down the photo and indicated we shouldn’t worry about this because US made products were of more concern.

I’m not sure why AliExpress should be targeted when we have plenty of counterfeiters in America. No one ever wants to talk about those. At least one of them has amassed a group of followers and is a far more dangerous to this hobby than anything from AliExpress.
Of course, the American pieces mentioned have been discussed ad nauseam, just not to everyone’s satisfaction.

Agree, kinda on the edge for the hosts forum.
Education that this type of thing is on the market is important to collectors & dealers.

This is what you don't want to do. It supports them and if they sell 1 they will make 1 more.
If no one buys them they will move on to counterfeiting something else.
Look at as many genuine slabs as you can and a fake one will be easy to spot.

Good point. My strong suit is currency, and superbills notwithstanding, I can easily spot a counterfeit, not so much with coins, but what you say does absolutely make perfect sense.

Hoping to get something done about these; I notified some others in the Hobby but felt the host may have the best shot.
The anti-counterfeiting proponents have been working on problems like this for over a decade.
While my recollection may be poor, I have the impression that the FBI's response to coin-related issues was that CDs and fashion items represented tens of billions of dollars of counterfeiting and intellectual property theft and coins were, in comparison, not a focus of their efforts.

The FBI is no longer focusing on anything that will benefit the American people. It could take a generation or so to regain it's reputation. Thats assuming people open their eyes to this deep state takeover but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
The chip is a standard off-the-shelf item. It won't do you any good to counterfeit it. All it sends is the Cert# and a nonce, a time-varying blob of data. If they match up, you get the data from the database. If they don't, you don't.

A very short-sighted response. Buying one or ten or a hundred of these will not encourage them further. They've already invested in the molds. Consider the analogy of undercover cops buying drugs. Are you considering Keeping this info from the public because spread of the negative news will deter some economic activity? Let me offer you a MS70 global anti-contagion pin to wear on your suit collar. And an amulet from Mr. "Q" if his shaman can't exorcise those evil spirits.

Doesn't PCGS have a business operation in China (Hong Kong)? I would think they could get this kind of thing shut down using Chinese law.
Well that's not good. Bet the lawyers are going crazy trying to figure out how to stop it. Peace Roy

Obviously, it’s a “home decoration”
Cert# is accurate and is registered to an unknown user.
Can't verify the bar code though.
It is a pop 1 coin.
