Tell me not to drill a hole in this error coin

I made this "pocket piece" cent on my keychain at least 15 years ago. While going through some new coins.... I paused....now I'm wondering if I should start fresh with its twin. Should I commit another numismatic crime and break out the drill again?

No drill
Go for it
Holed off center cents are much rarer than holeless ones.
Neither is worth a whole lot of money, so I say do what makes you happy.
Drill it. But give yourself all more room for wear on the ring.
Why not. What is it, a $10-20 coin, that is readily available from many error dealers on line and at shows? I wouldn't do it, but don't think it's a great numismatic crime if you do.
I am assuming it's a copper cent. I would avoid copper plated zinc cents due to zinc corrosion issues.
Keep the old one, it has a nice patina to it. Besides, the new one is zinc and won't last.
I would think a zinc cent would have its hole slowly worn through
Yup. Zinc is a very soft metal and it's highly reactive and will readily corrode. It won't last very long with a hole through the protective copper plating while on a key chain.

Over the years I have seen at least a couple of really vintage (let's say pre-Seated Liberty silver types) struck off center that were holed at the mid-point of the unstruck arc and worn on necklaces. So go for it.
But one is worth a hole lot more
I bought my daughter an UNC 1900 Off Center Indian Head Cent that had been drilled for a necklace. I think it was $18
For your sporting attempt at humor, I'll lay down a drill joke:
Q: Why shouldn't you take a job drilling 288 holes?
.
.
A:. It is a boring job, and it's too gross.
You can do whatever you want with it ... it's your coin. Enjoy.
I think it's pretty neat.
I generally don't support ruining collectable coins. But...
1) it's not rare or particularly valuable, and never will be.
2) you'll probably get a lot of use and enjoyment out of it.
So, what the heck.
P.S. - it appears to be zinc, in which case you would be wasting your time. Sell it for a few dollars and buy another copper one. Zinc will disintegrate into a nasty mess in no time.
Your coin your call. I just don't think the zincoln will last as well. But you never know unless you try.
You could, after you drill it, give it a heavy coat of lacquer.
I think I have photographic memory as I just saw this and it triggered this thread, LOL

Drill it!! I would imagine it has been a great conversation piece.

You already know I decided not to drill it.
I feel like the old one needs more time with me, and it's been a good friend.
It's your nickel......er, penny!
But I vote nay.
Or have it bronzed... 😜

I see you decided not to drill it... Good decision IMO.... A zincoln cent will not hold (holed) up well.... Cheers, RickO
It's only a misdemeanor, no jail time, the punishment is just asset forfeiture: send me all your coins.

I would drill it and then take a picture every year thereafter to show its deterioration.
