How many coin shows did you attend in 2021?

goldengolden Posts: 8,807 ✭✭✭✭✭

I had 11 shows on my schedule for 2021. Two of them (FUN and CSNS) were cancelled. I added two shows that I had never been to before, so I still went to 11 shows this year. They ranged in size from a small local show to a state show to reginal shows to the ANA. Last year I only got to 5 shows. I have 11 shows on the schedule for 2022. On to FUN!

Must have been 9 or 10 all local. I think Three large shows and the rest were small monthly shows. Plan to try for Long Beach at least once in 2022 and all the locals they put on.

Three for need and did not make any purchases at any of them. Nothing worth buying, quality not there or way overpriced.

I think 8 or 9. They were all my local ones. I don’t generally go to other places for coin shows

Local shows 5 maybe 6, large shows none due to distance or over the top restrictions. Sadly I expect that the trend will continue for many years to come.

Zero. I’ve been 90 percent satisfied with just the pictures I see online, and the cost to go to a show doesn’t justify the occasional disappointment.

6, including a PCGS Members show in Vegas back in May and fall Long Beach. It can be done - it's not "fear" if you are willing to follow a few extra procedures for some shows. I figure over time some of those will fade out. I was glas to finally be able to get and attend some shows.

    ANA - Denver - Long Beach - Denver - Baltimore - 1 local.

  • MilesWaitsMilesWaits Posts: 5,283 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Goose egg.
I attended a few local shows over three years ago but as others have said the quality is lacking compared to eBay, the big dealers for bullion, my B&M for esoteric and then mostly - the magic of the BST.
If I was just looking to socialize with coin collectors I would have a different answer.
I gather from the forum show reports, most are excited by the interactions. And that is cool.
I like the short and sweet (non promotion) show reports from members here on the forum.

Attended one. Long Beach in October 2021. Needed to show proof of vaccination, ID, and wear a mask. That's standard operating procedure here in CA for indoor events. Had to do likewise to see a movie the other day.

No purchases. Plan on going to Long Beach Feb. 2022. Probably same procedures involves.

    +1

And I also attended the PCGS member show in San Diego in November

  • Glad I escaped California and Colorado and made it into a free country, Texas. No mask, no vax, no problems! And I shop at Walmart almost every day. Never felt better.

I looking forward to attending a few shows this coming year looking for some high-ticket items. I just can't buy $5K+ coins from a photo and I don't want to stress over shipping them back and forth. So those last few early gold pieces are going to have to be bought sight-seen and in-person.

None. There are never any coin shows in this area. Often there are some tables with a few coins at gun shows.... however, they are usually a bunch of Peace dollars in AU or less condition... Once in a while a Morgan or two.... I did no traveling last year. Cheers, RickO

  • I attended 6 local shows from September through this month. On average, there are about 2 shows per month within an hour's drive from me. Although I've bought coins online, there is nothing like holding a coin in your hand before you buy.

12+ All local shows here in CO, plus Dallas/TNA, St. Louis twice, ANA Chicago, PCGS Vegas, and Albuquerque twice. Vaccinated, followed local restrictions, had my parents with me. Zero COVID.

We drove to all. No flights which were a Petri dish before this pandemic. A combo of setting up at shows and walking the floor.

    Planning on FUN next week.

GSAs, OBW rolls, Seated, Walkers. Anything old and Colorado-focused, CO nationals.

Gonna get me a $50 Octagonal someday. Some. Day.
