asheland’s Gold Type Set - new pictures - 2021

ashelandasheland Posts: 23,404 ✭✭✭✭✭

I finally dug out my gold type coins for a new group photo!

As you can see, I lack a T3 Liberty $20
I would like it in MS65, but a nice 64 would work

And here’s the shot of the type set and the others, southern, early, Canadian, extras etc.
gold dollars and quarter eagles I seemingly can’t have too many of them. :D

Please share your gold group photos in here. I love seeing them!
@SimpleCollector and others. :)

Here’s a video I took today:

And one of the Canadian 5’s:

Nice accumulation ya got there. I probably have owned 7 or 8 gold coins over the years. Currently I only have a replica California token in gold.

Nice group! Isn't there something so satisfying about laying them all out and admiring them? When I do that, it makes me feel like a dragon.

    Some very choice pieces there!

It's all about what the people want...

  • Shaweet! Noice! I just picked up my type 2 G$1 in PCGS AU55. Still need a $3 princess and the early $5 gold pieces. Then I guess I'm done for now and everything goes back into storage for a while. Think I'll start a thread like this before doing that though, so I can come here and look at the pictures instead of opening up my boxes again. They're ll in new PCGS holders with no Captain America gold shields, no green and gold jelly beans and no Mickey Mouse club stickers. :open_mouth: I wanted a consistent look.

@asheland ... Very, very nice gold set. I have not done such a set. I have just collected some gold coins that attracted me, and the error gold coins (MS W, unfinished dies).... I put the rest of my gold interests into stacking. Maybe add a few in the coming year towards a set... Cheers, RickO

I housed my eight piece gold type set in a Capitol Plastics holder back in the 1960s. I bought the 12 piece type coin holder, but didn’t like it because the gold dollars rattled in it. I ended up storing those in individual Capital Plastics holders. I had a Whitman album at one point, but, once more, it was not good for the gold dollars. Those coins are just too small and thin.

    Nice gold collection, @asheland!

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Thanks for sharing. I see there are already 23 likes. Is there any way to see the identity of those beyond the most recent 10?

Not sure if the system allows that? When I click the like button above to see the full list, the result is the system removes my "like" because the number of likes dropped by one. I did hit the like button again so Ashland doesn't lose a well deserved like. :)

I know that when I have clicked on the list of names on a popular post of mine to attempt to see who (beyond the 10 listed) gave it a like, I get a snarky pop up warning telling me I am not allowed to like my own posts. Guess the system interprets trying to see who liked a post as trying to "like" your own post. :/
