The coins in this set are not Gem Uncircuated, but they are all Mint State.
These sets often have a "slider" or two slipped into the group. The history of the Jefferson "war nickel" is interesting, but I'll save that for another time.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

It is a private (novelty) over-strike on a US Mint "war" nickel.
When I was a kid I had a dream about finding such a coin in my pocket change.
Many years later, I made some.
