Great Collections pays $4.75 million for an Ultra High Relief Saint.

dbldie55dbldie55 Posts: 7,736 ✭✭✭✭✭

Heritage just posted that they have sold a high relief to Great Collections. From the article, the end buyer is the owner of the 1933 Saint. Wonder if they also acquired an 1804 Dollar, 1894-S Dime and 1913 Liberty nickel recently as well.

Hope they don't change their fee structure to pay for it!

Great Collections has really been making a name for themselves. If these are being purchased by the same buyer, they're assembling one heck of a set!

I had posted about "GC's" Box Of Twenty. This would be #8.

It is nice to see the "anonymous" buyer of the 1933 is expanding his collection.

I see a single ding on the reverse on the feather closest to the center of the coin, and a few random carbon spots. Definitley a looker in all respects!

I suspect at that level it isn’t a question of “instead” but “in addition to.” Also, the crowd following a Bugatti is going to be overwhelmingly male.

The UHR is a remarkable coin. I have held a 68 in hand (quite possibly this one) and it’s truly one of the most captivating coins in all of numismatics.

Very cool - I assume GC didn't buy the coin for $4.75 mil and assume any risk but acted as the agent for the purchase??

Looking forward to seeing the coin at FUN!

What if he already has a $6 million Bugatti Divo and a $3 million Bugatti Chiron? Every Divo owner also has a Chiron.

After all, those two cars together are less than half his $19 million 1933 DE.

That's awesome Ian! It will be an amazing sight. You're doing a great job of making these wonderful coins available to view and enjoy! :+1:

I have to ask for the other forum members here, will it arrive in a gold Buggati? ;):D

My recollection of the first time I saw a 1933 Saint and a High Relief (I am sure it was not an Ultra High Relief)

I think it was at the 2005 ANA in San Francisco. The Smithsonian had a display.

I was excited to finally see the "famous" 1933 Saint. It was next to the high relief, and once I saw them side by side, the 1933 was just a ho hum coin. For a Saint, nothing compares to the high relief examples (the Ultra High Relief must be spectacular)

It is nice to see the owner of the 33 expanding.

It will be fun to see what Ian has in mind next. All of these transactions could have been anonymous, and we would not be able to follow along. Thank you for sharing the adventure. (for people like me, the adventure of others is all we have in regards to the million dollar gems)
