    Tool marks around the date of a key coin are always a good sign

    wow... pretty crude fake. They didn't even smooth over the tool marks... and there's really not much a would-be counterfeiter can do about the spacing between the "9" and tooled "1" in the date...

    You know even if you ignored the gap,
    the tooling,
    that still leaves the wrong font for the mint mark that we can see.

    Seller has been an ebay member since 2004 with good feedback.
    Seller shows no history of coin sales and may not know.
    Most folks selling fakes don't list them for a 10 day auction.

    Anyone else care to send the seller a polite message. ;)

    All I can say is wow. 46 bids and now up to $153.06.

    Does not give me a good feeling on the abilities of many collectors out there, especially since this one is so obviously worked on. Oh well... we all learn our lessons in life one way or another.

    I really dislike stuff like this.

    Worse, the seller won't listen and is probably going to sell the coin to an unsuspecting buyer.

    Says a lot for lack of character and honesty, doesn't it peeps?

    There is 3 days left on the auction and I have reported it.
    I'm sure there are other members here that have or will report it also.
    Chance of this ending in a sale are not very good but it could happen.

    I'm of the understanding that the coin as is! no matter what's in the description is still a prohibited ebay item, correct?

    The coin shop dealer (claimed) told them "It Wasn't An Altered Coin" maybe they should take it back to the same dealer and ask if it has had a "Hack Job" :D

    eBay will remove the auction when enough reports are sent in. I do not know how many reports are needed to remove an auction. So if you haven't already reported it, please do so..
